Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 09/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

With meetings at Brighton, Chelmsford, Chester, Huntington, Stratford, Gowran Park and Tipperary to consume, Thursday’s race card menu is packed solid with the potential for some more tasty profit. We’ve laid out our latest horse racing betting tips for the day’s action below. Good luck!

Best Tip #1:  Easy Fella – Tipperary, 18:40

Easy Fella is very familiar with this part of the world having run three of his last five races at either Thurles or Tipperary. He won twice over staying hurdles last season and one of those triumphs came on his stable debut for Henry De Bromhead over 2m 7f at Thurles. Rated at 135 ahead of today’s run, the 7-year-old could be the one to beat again.

Elsewhere, Prairie Dancer could be another contender to price up on betting sites. The versatile type won the November Handicap at Naas last year and though he pulled up when seen for the first time in 2024 at Cheltenham, there is potential to release, especially over this distance. Nine Graces is another dual hurdle winner who could be open to progress.

Best Tip #2: D Flawless – Chelmsford City, 19:00

D Flawless comes from good stock and his dam enjoyed a victory in a Listed event over this distance. The 3-year-old finished a close second on his first outing in December at Kempton in a Class 5 race and could go one better on his return to action today. The Gosden’s promising charge is bursting with potential and could score.

Lakota Spirit meanwhile, could offer some competition. Trained by Richard Hannon, Lakota Spirit raced in April at Kempton and shaped up well to finish second. An improvement on that performance looks possible here.

Breckenridge, who drops down a couple of grades to compete, is another interesting prospect.

Best Roughie: Chantilly Rose – Huntingdon, 16:00

Chantilly Rose didn’t do much for Dan Skelton when pushed over hurdles last year, though a switch to fences could suit and the 7-year-old could find another gear today. Skelton’s yard has a knack for producing improvers and Chantilly Rose provides food for thought off a big price on her chasing debut.

In an open looking race, Samtara has been generating the most buzz on sports betting apps in the ante-post movement. The 10-year-old will run off a career-low mark today and goes up in trip after some decent appearances at Exeter.

Let’s Go Amigo will be wearing cheekpieces again for his chasing bow today, which could aid his chances on his return from a five-month hiatus.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Tipperary is laid out over a sharp left-handed oval with a 5-furlong chute built in for longer trips. Jockey Jack Kennedy has been in prolific form at Tipperary this season and has posted five wins from 15 races there. Trainer Willie Mullins (seven wins) has also been setting the standard.
  • Gallopers can usually enjoy themselves at Chelmsford due to the wide, sweeping bends and two-furlong straights there. Jockey Rossa Ryan needs just one more win to reach double figures for the season at Chelmsford. Jack Gilligan (43%) and Lewis Edmunds (45%) have better overall win rates, however.
  • Huntingdon is another track for the speedier types with open spaces and a flat, fair setting to surge through. Trainer Ben Pauling has been the dominant force at Huntingdon this season, winning with 11 of his 28 entries at the track so far.
