Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 09/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are meetings at Hereford, Southwell and Thirsk to look forward to on Tuesday and with a trio of race cards to filter through, we should have plenty of interesting avenues to explore in the betting markets. Yesterday, our three selections returned one placed effort and yet another winner when Aerospace did the business at Newcastle. Below, you can dive into our latest free horse racing betting tips for Tuesday’s action across the UK.

Best Tip #1: Tour Ovalie – Hereford, 4.30

Tour Ovalie couldn’t rein in the clear winner at Hereford last month, though his run to second spot was still comfortable enough and the unexposed 5-year-old is taken to go one better at Hereford today.

Tour Ovalie runs off the same mark as last time and with Isabel Williams in the saddle, her chances of excelling on the same course over the same trip look good.

The rest of the field in the 4.30 looks non-threatening in the main, though River Robe has had some backing on other betting sites for horse racing.

She hasn’t made an appearance since November, though she starts handicapping off a decent make here and could make an impact. Mambo Beat, who was a previous handicap winner at a low grade, might also deserve attention.

Best Tip #2: Robusto – Southwell, 6.00

Robusto looked the part for Sir Mark Prescott last year and posted three wins on AW before changing hands in October. The 4-year-old represents new trainer Eve Johnson Houghton for the first time today and that stable has been doing plenty of good work of late.

Stepping up in trip today should be a test, though we’re tipping Robusto to conquer the challenge.

The main danger could come from Isle Of Sark, who has been earning top billing in the ante-post markets. A record of 1-19 isn’t the best, however, he has placed in each of his last four races, which suggests a first win could be around the corner.

Elsewhere, Cool Party could be one to watch after a drop down in grade. He’s been missing for four months, but could be a contender on his comeback.

Best Roughie: Mattella – Thirsk, 3.45

The fourth race of the day at Thirsk is littered with horses with plenty to prove, though Mattella shaped up well on her handicap debut at Newcastle last month (3rd) and could be ready to make further strides.

A 1lb drop in the ratings could help her on and the lightly-raced 5-year-old looks open to progress here. Mattella also drops down a grade today which could make her more competitive.

Enderman is another candidate that could be worth a market check on betting apps. The 6-year-old won a 6f handicap event at Nottingham last August and also showed some promise on AW over the winter.

Purple Martini meanwhile, runs off a winning mark and if she can recapture the form that allowed her to win at Musselburgh last year, she could put herself in the mix.

Stats and Insights

  • Hereford is a right-handed square circuit that finishes with a swift downhill surge, so our tips need to be involved near the front towards the end. Jockeys, James Bowen and Sam Twinston-Davies, have had five wins each at Hereford this season, though their overall win-rates there have been modest.
  • Southwell is a left-handed, oval-shaped track that is tight in parts and flat enough to favour sprinting types. Trainer Hugo Palmer has an impressive 45% strike rate at Southwell this season while jockey Jason Hart is already on double-figure wins at the track.
  • The track at Thirsk has some sharp turns to get around, though there is a 6-furlong straight chute for shorter races, which can condense the racing pack. Jockey William Buick has only raced eight times at Thirsk this term, though he managed to win on five separate occasions.
