Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 08/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings at Brighton, Chepstow, Sandown, Yarmouth, Leopardstown and Sligo combine to fill out Thursday’s race card, and with six meetings across the UK and Ireland to dissect, we’re confident that we can end the day with some more profit. As per the usual run of things, we’ve laid out three horse racing betting tips for the day’s action below.

Best Tip #1:  Crystal Black – Leopardstown – 18:22

Crystal Black must prove that he can handle racing in a small bunch today, however, Ger Keane’s charge still looks like the one to back in the Xin Gin Ballyroan Stakes.

The 6-year-old has raced three times this year and has won on each occasion and his last effort delivered a victory in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Ascot on what was his first attempt over this trip. There is plenty to like about Crystal Black again here.

Aiden O’Brien’s The Euphrates will hope that Crystal Black is swayed by the novelty of competing in a small field, however.

Priced as second favourite on horse racing betting sites, he’s been doing plenty of racing of late and shaped up well to win at Gowran on July 29th on his last outing. With confidence gained from that push, he should be in the mix again today.

Best Tip #2: Hardy Diamond – Sligo, 18:05

Gordon Elliott’s Hardy Diamond made all to win on his rules debut in a maiden hurdle at Kelbeggan at the end of last month ahead of 14 others and showed enough potential on that occasion to earn the nod for today’s more competitive race at Sligo.

Interestingly, jockey Jack Kennedy has chosen Hardy Diamond ahead of stablemate Ankud today and that decision is worth taking note of.

Eoin Doyle’s Rauzan has been doing the business over hurdles this summer and managed to win each of his last three races at Tramore and Downpatrick (twice). Unsurprisingly, he has clattered up the weights after his hattrick, however, he warrants plenty of respect again today.

Spy meanwhile, looked the part over hurdles when finishing second at Cork last time out and can build on that display at Sligo.

Best Roughie: Atlantis Blue – Sandown, 20:15

Atlantis Blue finally broke her duck after 16 attempts to win at Bath in a Class 5 Maiden race over 1m in early July and followed that up with another triumph over the same trip at Windsor a couple of weeks later.

Now chasing down a hattrick, George Baker’s mare still looks well treated against her future mark and while today’s draw might have been better, she’s got to be in contention again.

Cervetto meanwhile, is another name with serious credentials. The lightly-raced 4-year-old won an amateur rider’s handicap over C&D at Sandown just five weeks back and could return to do more damage at the same venue today. The addition of a tongue tie to cheekpieces could make a difference.

Dreamrocker, who is leading the charge on the best betting apps in the UK, is aiming to follow up a recent win at Ascot and should also factor into your thinking.

Stats and Insights

  • There are no real sharp bends or unsettling undulations to navigate at Leopardstown and galloping types can excel there as a result. Jockeys Colin Keane, Shane Foley, Ryan Moore, WJ Lee and Seamie Heffernan are the names to watch out for in Dublin.
  • Sligo has tight corners to tackle and undulations to conquer before an uphill finish. Trainers John Patrick Ryan, Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins have all posted double-figure wins at Sligo over the last five jumps seasons in west Ireland.
  • The course at Sandown is flat enough to favour the gallopers and horses need to stay the distance to succeed there. Trainers Charlie Appleby, William Haggas, John & Thady Gosden, Andrew Balding and Ralph Beckett have all tasted plenty of success at Sandown in recent seasons.
