Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 08/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

A new racing week begins today and Monday’s line-up offers punters plenty of choice with meetings scheduled across the UK and Ireland at Ayr, Ripon, Wolverhampton, Worcester and Roscommon. Yesterday, two of our three picks placed, but we’re determined to identify some more winners today. View our free horse racing betting tips for Monday’s action below.

Best Tip #1:  Rockstown Girl – Roscommon, 18:38

Rockstown Girl was an easy winner at a Tipperary Maiden Hurdle when kicking off her summer campaign and with further improvement likely to come, she can threaten over a shorter distance at Roscommon today.

She won a bumper at this track on her debut in 2022 and with plenty of freshness about her at present, more success at the same circuit looks possible.

Henry De Bromhead’s Le Coq Hardi also catches the eye at a slightly bigger price on the best betting sites for horse racing

A win at Down Royal for the 5-year-old wasn’t backed up when last seen at Roscommon (3rd) in June, though the drop in distance could make him more of a player, especially with prolific jockey Rachael Blackmore in the saddle.

Best Tip #2: Pilot Show – Worcester, 14:35

Pilot Show shaped up well to win at Warwick in a Class 5 Chase Handicap over 3m at the end of May and a repeat performance up a grade looks a distinct possibility today.

With a record of 2-3-1 from his last three efforts, Pilot Show’s form has been solid and though he moves up 5lb in the rankings, that increase is offset by Ben Bromley’s claimer.

James Owen’s My Gift To You has the credentials to pose a threat, meanwhile. He didn’t get going at Fakenham (7th) on June 2nd, though a record of 2-1-2-2 before that over similar trips was admirable and he is still largely unexposed over today’s distance.

Langley Hundred, who finished second twice in a row at Newton Abbot in June, is another name for shortlists.

Best Roughie: Miss Calculation – Wolverhampton, 19:35

Mrs Stella Barclay’s Miss Calculation heads to Wolverhampton today on the back of a win at Catterick. That triumph at the end of May was achieved over 7f in a Class 6 Handicap and dropping only slightly back in distance today, the 5-year-old could be in the frame again.

Rated on the ceiling mark for this race, Miss Calculation has looked comfortable at Wolverhampton before and she is taken to shake things up off a big starting price on sports betting apps.

Forgotten Treasure tasted victory at Wolverhampton as recently as June 30th and should be a player on her return to sprinting at the same track today.

Ustath meanwhile, returns to Wolverhampton after solid efforts at Thirsk and Musselburgh. The 8-year-old finished 1st and 2nd on her last two visits to Wolverhampton and should be a player there again.

Stats and Insights

  • The course at Roscommon has sharp bends to navigate and a slight incline towards the finish line. The usual suspects Henry De Bromhead, Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins have all enjoyed plenty of success at Roscommon over the last five seasons.
  • Worcester offers a straightforward test for most horses due to the gentle bends and lengthy straights at the track. Jockeys Sean Bowen, Sam Twinston-Davies and Harry Cobden have excellent records at Worcester and all three are in action today.
  • The left-handed bends at Wolverhampton make the circuit there somewhat unique and previous experience at the track can give horses a significant edge. Trainers Tony Carroll, Michael Appleby, Mark Loughnane, David Evans and George Boughey are the names to watch out for at Wolverhampton.
