Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 08/06

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are meetings across the UK and Ireland at Bangor-On-Dee, Beverley, Catterick, Chepstow, Haydock, Lingfield, Navan and Punchestown for racing fans to enjoy today and with so many options to weigh up, the smell of profit is in the air again. Yesterday, we had success with two of our three selections following Dancing In Paris’s run to the frame at Goodwood and Tag Man’s win at Clonmel. Check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Glor Tire – Navan, 16:05

Glor Tire hasn’t looked back since the application of headgear and her vertical trajectory continued during the week when she won well at Leopardstown. That triumph completed a hattrick of successive wins for the talented 3-year-old and she is likely to be right in the mix again today.

Gabriella Hill is back in the saddle with her 10lb claimer, so look for Glor Tire to deliver the business again.

Old Faithful meanwhile, has been backed into a favourite’s price on sports betting apps. He was last seen at Naas on May 11th when he scored over a slightly longer trip, though he has been unreliable before and other options are better pursued here.

Harbour Gem, who won at Cork last time out over a similar trip, could be a good each-way possibility.

Best Tip #2: Gaucher – Punchestown, 15:07

Gaucher came close to breaking his duck over hurdles for Willie Mullins when finishing a close second at Kilbeggan last month and today offers a chance to go one better.

A two-time flat race winner in France, promise has been shown in maiden hurdles since the switch and today’s drop back in distance could make the difference for the 5-year-old.

Elsewhere, Gordon Elliott’s Omniscient could pose a challenge. He has had three outings for his new stable this year, finishing 4th, 3rd and then 2nd, with his last effort at Punchestown a particularly eye-catching display.

He lost by only 1l on that occasion and a step-up from that push could be in the works on his return to the circuit.

Best Roughie: Northerner – Catterick, 15:55

Northerner managed to make the frame on all three of his previous starts, one of which was at Catterick in late April. On his last outing, he was runner up behind a horse that now carries a rating of 80 at Musselburgh, so there is some promise to cling to.

A competitive mark of 64 and a low draw could combine to push Northerner forward again at an attractive price here.

Adrian Nicholls’s charge, Secret Command, has been building support on other horse racing betting sites, meanwhile.

He finished second on his last visit to Catterick over 5f last month and dropping down in grades today could strengthen his chances. However, he has been drawn wider today and with that considered, preference is given to Northerner.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Navan is a flat enough setting and while conditions there can be testing at times, a good surface is anticipated in Kildare today. AP O’Brien has been the most dominant trainer at Navan over the last five years, though Mrs J Harrington has also enjoyed success during the same period.
  • The circuit at Punchestown is a right-handed run and is considered a fair track for most types. Willie Mullins holds dominion over Punchestown in jumps races and the world-renowned trainer has won a massive 147 times there since 2019.
  • There are sharp bends to get around at Catterick and that tends to favour horses that get themselves in the mix near the front early. Trainer Tim Easterby has an unmatched 42 wins from flat events at Catterick over the last five years, so look out for his horses when they run there.
