It’s Thursday and our hunt for the best selections and tastiest odds continues with race cards at Doncaster, Huntington, Lingfield, Newcastle and Thurles to sink our teeth into.
Yesterday, we landed a massive 12/1 winner when Mighty Jeremy upset the competition at Fairyhouse while Symbol of Light placed at Kempton to add to our profits for the day. Below, we’ve compiled another set of horse racing tips for your punting pleasure, so keep reading to view our latest predictions.
Best Tip #1: McGrath From Clune – Thurles 1.55
McGrath From Clune won comfortably over fences on his last trip at Thurles in November last year and he is taken to enjoy success in a chase at the same circuit here.
The gelding didn’t take to the hurdle handicap at Punchestown last month, though he is a much better chaser and should be difficult to beat over the 2m 70y run today.
Elsewhere, Thedancingfarrier could offer some opposition. He ran well on his return to fences at Cork in January and is running off an attractive mark today. Espion du Chenet could be another one to watch if he can hit the ground running following a lengthy break.
The 10-year-old, whose price has been narrowing on sports betting apps, has previous winning form at Thurles and is off a low mark after an ordinary stint in the Autumn.

Best Tip #2: Knight of Allen – Doncaster 2.05
Four-year-old Knight of Allen has energy to burn and he ran brilliantly to finish second at a Class 1 Listed Hurdle at Aintree in his last outing in December.
Knight of Allen stands out as the horse to beat again at Doncaster when he drops in class to tackle a similar distance and he is taken to deliver a first win for trainer Jane Williams.
Wreckless Eric is fancied to offer some competition following his recent debut at Newbury. He finished a close second that day and he should be able to improve with experience.
Debutant El Battle Bus, who is based in an elite-level northern stable, should also be respected while Rockola has a third-place finish from December at Doncaster to build on.

Best Roughie: Aqwaam – Newcastle 4.30
Aqwaam enjoyed success over hurdles at Newcastle in a 2m Class 4 Handicap in November last year and he is taken to push for victory on his first return to the same track today.
The 6-year-old followed up that November triumph with three solid runs at Southwell (twice) and Wolverhampton, and the potential to improve and go one better is there.
Other online horse racing betting options for the 4.30 include unexposed favourite Beraz, who looks promising on his step back up in trip.
The 6-year-old finished fourth from a competitive Class 2 field at Newcastle last month and the drop down should enhance his chances of success. Queen of Ipanema also makes the shortlist on his step down the class pyramid. The former C&D winner has a good strike-rate on the AW and deserves respect.

Stats and Insights
- The track at Thurles features a descent ahead of the final bend before the circuit finishes with a final sprinting flourish up an incline, so we want our picks to be in the mix near the front if possible. The right-handed, undulating run at Thurles covers a mile and two furlongs.
- Doncaster is one for the gallopers due to the gentle undulations and with a reliable surface to enjoy, there are rarely any tales of rotten luck for horses and riders to share. Trainers Richard Fahey and Alan King have been the dominant names at the track over the last five seasons, so pay special attention to their runners here.
- As the only All-Weather racing venue in the UK, the run at Newcastle can often suits horses with experience at the track. Unsurprisingly, the straight mile section of the track tends to favour strong gallopers and horses have been known to gain plenty of ground from positions further back.
