Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 07/09

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Saturday’s race card contains a plethora of potentially profitable meetings across the UK and Ireland at Ascot, Haydock, Kempton, Stratford, Thirsk, Wolverhampton and Navan.

Yesterday, two of our three selections placed, while the other returned a winner thanks to Papagei’s success at Haydock. View today’s free horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Harry’s Hill – Navan, 16:00

Today’s Rathkenny Handicap at Navan looks like it could be a faceoff between Transcendental and Harry’s Hill for top billing, though we’re giving the latter the nod on this occasion.

The eight-time winner scored when last seen at Bellewstown on August 27th, leaving today’s rival Transcendental back in second. The 6-year-old is 4lb better off here in the ratings and could prove his mettle against the same opponent.

Transcendental bounced back from that defeat at Bellewstown with win at Navan just two days later in after comfortably impressive showing.

Gavin Cromwell’s charge has been in excellent form overall this season and though she has been hit with a 10lb increase, solid claims are there again and she could justify her favouritism on betting sites for horse racing.

Best Tip #2: Arkhalia Flynn – Haydock, 16:40

Arkhalia Flynn takes top form to Haydock today and there could be more to come from Jack Channon’s prime contender at Haydock.

The 3-year-old came out on top in three of his last five races since entering the handicapping sphere, with one of those victories secured at this track over 7f. A 5lb rise since his last win at Windsor might not be enough to hamper his chances.

Asterverdi could provide an each-way alternative at a bigger price. A winner at Sandown over 1m in June, she was disappointing at Glorious Goodwood later the same month (11th).

However, a solid showing at Hamilton (3rd) last time out was much better and with Hollie Doyle in the saddle, she has the potential to be thereabouts.

Best Roughie: New Image – Ascot, 13:35

David O’Meara’s New Image has been making good strides since moving to his stable with a record of 1-3-2-1 from his last four completed races. The 4-year-old is comfortable at Ascot having won and finished second on his last two appearances there in August and July respectively.

He was a close second in a big C&D handicap race here in the summer and could be just as competitive over the same trip today.

The Wizard Of Eye meanwhile, has had the most backing on sports betting apps so far. He has shown good versatility on all types of ground and was gelded before his win in the Victoria Cup at Ascot back in May.

He returned to Ascot in June to finish 6th in a tough Class 1 race, but returning to the 7f handicapping nice today could bring the best out of him again.

Stats and Insights

  • A good dollop of stamina is required to power down the three-and-a-half-furlong finish at Navan, while the testing conditions there can also test a horse’s staying power. Aiden O’Brien, Mrs John Harrington, JP O’Brien, JP Murtagh and W McCreery are usually the trainers to look out for at Navan.
  • Haydock isn’t overly challenging in terms of undulations, though weather conditions in the north west can soften things up which sometimes favours mudlarks. William Haggas has been the most dominant trainer at Haydock over the last five flat seasons, recording 45 wins in that timeframe.
  • Considered to be a specialist’s track, Ascot is a unique setting and previous experience of the circuit can be a big plus. Jockeys Trainers William Haggas, Andrew Balding, John & Thady Gosden, Roger Varian and Charlie Appleby have all won at Ascot on numerous occasions.
