Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 06/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Tuesday’s race card features another exciting line-up of meetings across the UK and Ireland at Catterick, Chelmsford, Ffos Las and Roscommon, giving everyone of a punting persuasion another chance to land some profit. Yesterday, two of our three picks placed (Buy The Dip, Lingfield and Jewel Maker, Carlisle), though we’re determined to step things up today. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Kilashee – Roscommon, 19:30

Kilashee has been nudged up 12lb by the handicappers since her penultimate win at Killarney, though she arrives at Roscommon on the back of three victories on the spin and that form isn’t easily dismissed.

John Ryan’s red-hot nine-year-old will need to pull it out of the bag today to defy the handicapper’s attempts to thwart her, however, she is taken to deliver – as long as conditions don’t get too wet.

Elsewhere, Gaelic Des Chastys could be another contender with credentials on betting sites for horse racing.

The 8-year-old has looked the part for a new yard (Eric McNamara) this summer, winning at Punchestown off a mark of 82 and following that up with a run to second at Kilbeggan off 88. There is another 3lb heaped on top today, however, he should be in the mix again.

Best Tip #2: Quercus – Catterick, 16:00

Quercus is a known quantity in this race having won its renewal in 2021 and finished second in last year’s iteration of the same event.

A five-time course winner here overall, the 7-year-old had a nice warm up at Catterick when last seen on July 24th when hitting second spot and running off a 1lb higher mark today, he could have what it takes to score.

Hattrick-chasing Lady Bouquet could also make a solid bid and warrants plenty of respect. She won an apprentice handicap at Beverley in June and repeated the trick off the same mark at Hamilton last month.

Both of those wins were achieved over 5f and the same trip should suit today. The in-form filly is up 5lb in the ratings, though that shouldn’t be too much of an anchor.

Best Roughie: Port Noir – Ffos Las, 16:15

Port Noir arrives at Ffos Las fresh from a decent performance at the same track last week. She finished third on that occasion having kept on well throughout over 6f and though she moves slightly up in distance today, she has shown an aptitude for running over 7f before.

This race is shaping up to be an open sprint and Port Noir is worth weighing up to compete at attractive odds on betting apps in the UK.

Monsieur Patat is another name for shortlists. He has been rejuvenated by a stable switch and has posted two comfortable wins in three starts since mid-May. He bears an increase of 6lb today, though his form has been eye-catching enough to earn some thought.

Spirit Of The Rose, who is a lightly-raced 3-year-old, could kick on from his second-place finish at Haydock on July 19th.

Stats and Insights

  • Roscommon is considered a fair setting by most despite having some sharp bends to navigate. Trainers Henry De Bromhead, Gordon Elliott, Willie Mullins, Barry Connell and Gavin Cromwell are usually the names to look out for during the jumps season at Roscommon.
  • Horses with previous experience at Catterick tend to do well, while the tight bends there can favour the front runners. Tim Easterby had more wins at Catterick over the last five seasons (43) than any other trainer, though KR Burke posted a better overall win rate over the same period (21% to 11%).
  • With easy bends to negotiate and a chute on the home straight to roar down, galloping types can usually enjoy themselves at Ffos Las. Jockeys David Probert, Rossa Ryan, Oisin Murphy, Lewis Edmunds and Rob Hornby have all done well at FFos Las in recent seasons.
