Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 06/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

We kicked off the week with yet another winner yesterday thanks to Mercurey’s success at Punchestown and Tuesday’s race card line-up opens up more opportunities for profitable manoeuvres in the markets. There are exciting events to peruse at Market Rasen, Taunton and Wolverhampton, and we’ve crunched the numbers to bring you another set of free horse racing tips for the day’s action as well as the best prices from the best betting apps. Check them out below.

Best Tip #1: Sailed Away – Market Rasen 1.35

Sailed Away has been consistent since moving back into handicap racing and he finished a strong second at Huntington in January. He is carrying another 5lb today, though he is still taken to build on his promise with a win here.

The six-year-old was a clear second in that Class 5 run at Huntington and he looks built to go one better under Harry Atkins in the earliest race at Market Rasen.

Elsewhere, Backinforglory could be another option with merit. She landed in second spot over 2m 4f at Southwell last month and could go again here. Captain Jack meanwhile, enjoyed third and second-placed finishes at Market Rasen last year and with circuit experience to draw from, deserves to be respected. Nevertheless, Sailed Away remains our confident first pick.

Best Tip #2:  Merry Monty – Taunton 3.20

There is a competitive field at Taunton in 3.20, however, preference is for Merry Monty carrying Bryan Carver, who showed plenty of promise on his debut over fences at Exeter last month.

That run followed another second place at Exeter again in December and with a platform to build on, the seven-year-old is taken to get the job done. The ground will be faster today than at Exeter, which could pose a problem, though Chris Down’s charge remains very docket-worthy.

Our Nel meanwhile, has been given a good chance by other horse betting racing sites and having landed in third at Fakenham in December, the low-mileage 6-year-old is worth keeping an eye on. Howyouplaythegame should also be shortlisted as an option. The 8-year-old should enjoy the right-handed rack and is tongue-tie for the first time, which could make a positive difference.

Best Roughie: Alpine Oasis – Wolverhampton 7.00

Newcomer Alpine Oasis is a half-sister to Albion Princess, who is a previous 1m/1m 2f winner, and the untested 3-year-old could surprise the leading contenders in the 7pm run at Wolverhampton. Alpine Oasis comes from a strong stable under trainer Karl Burke and is definitely worth a market check before her debut.

Alpine Oasis will have to find plenty of punch to beat favoured Crimson Coronet, however. She finished second at Newcastle in a Class 5 Maiden over 1m last month and the competition might not be quite as stiff for her this time around.

Moonlight Express is another interesting-looking debutant. Trained by James Fanshawe, Moonlight Express is a half-sister to four winners and is of interest with a tongue tie on.

Stats and Insights

  • Market Rasen is a right-handed oval circuit that tends to suit speedy types with the turns often a struggle for the large gallopers. There is plenty of space on the lengthy final run-in, so late surges can profit here. Trainers Harry and Dan Skelton have enjoyed plenty of success at Market Rasen over the past five seasons.
  • Taunton favours the front runners due to the short circuit there, so our tips will usually need to be close to the leading pack to make an impact. There is a very short finish right after the final turn, so you don’t want your runner to be too far behind when it arrives.
  • Built on a Tapeta surface, the tack at Wolverhampton is one mile long and nicely level. The circuit is slightly unusual in that it has left-handed bends and horses with previous experience there can often handle the change in directions better.
