Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 05/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Tuesday’s race card is made up of meetings from the UK and Ireland at Newcastle, Redcar, Sedgefield, Warwick and Fairyhouse, giving us plenty of room to manoeuvre in our hunt for profit.

Yesterday, we had another successful jaunt with our three tips returning another winner thanks to Military Academy’s success at Kempton and two placed horses, including our longshot tip, Daytona Lady at Southwell. Let’s hope for more of the same in our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1: The Mediator – Fairyhouse, 13:40

The Mediator has an uninspiring record of zero wins from 11 attempts over hurdles, however, he has been knocking on the door with some force since the summer.

Gordon Elliott’s charge finished second in successive races at Listowel, Gowran Park and Punchestown between September and October over a distance of 2m, and today’s race could allow the 7-year-old to finally break his duck.

Elsewhere, Faceman looks best positioned to challenge The Mediator’s authority at Fairyhouse and the 5-year-old could be worth a market check on horse racing betting sites in the UK.

Having placed in both bumper outings at Listowel and Cork in September and October, this well-bred jumper could be open to further progression for trainer David Harry Kelly.

Best Tip #2: Temper Trap – Redcar, 15:09

Tim Easterby brings Temper Trap to Redcar today with high expectations and the 7-year-old earns our nod to beat all in this 7f flat sprint. A regular winner over this trip before, Temper Trap won on his last visit to Redcar on October 18th and has serious credentials on his return.

He finished second in a Class 4 Handicap at Nottingham when last seen and should be even better dropping back down a grade today.

Ey Up Its Jazz meanwhile, is shaping up like another contender. He finished as runner up in five of his last ten starts, and was a close second at Doncaster on his last appearance in late October.

His gallop to third at Redcar before that was another solid effort, so expect this consistent sort to be in the mix for the Coyle & Wood connections again.

Best Roughie: Ben Asker – Newcastle, 18:30

Ben Asker has seen little action over the last two years, however, he has shown an aptitude for performing against the odds in the past and could be worth a small flutter in today’s final race at Newcastle.

The 6-year-old will be something of an unknown quantity after a 13-month absence, though he delivered back-to-back wins at Ayr in the summer of 2022 and will represent a new stable today and could surprise a few.

Tickets has been drawing the most attention on betting apps in the ante-post shuffle, however.

A winner here at Newcastle on his last runout on October 22nd, the 5-year-old returns to the north east to compete in a similar race today and while he carries an increased 3lb burden, he should be well-treated enough to make another bold bid.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Fairyhouse isn’t overly testing, however, there is a slight uphill finish to climb, so extra stamina can come in useful. Big-hitting Irish duo Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have been the two most successful trainers at Fairyhouse over the last five jump seasons.
  • Redcar is a flat and level setting, and with few hard luck stories spun there, underdogs have a hard time upsetting the odds. Look out for horses trained by Tim Easterby, David O’Meara, Michael Dods, KR Burke and Richard Fahey here.
  • The All-Weather track at Newcastle is a course for the gallopers and takes plenty of getting on the Tapeta surface. Richard Fahey has been the most successful trainer in Newcastle over the last five campaigns.
