Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 05/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Monday’s race card features meetings across the UK and Ireland at Carlisle, Lingfield, Ripon, Cork, Naas giving us a real chance to kick the new week off with some profit. Yesterday, two of our three tips finished second (Al Shabab Storm – Chester, American Affair – Haydock), so let’s cross our fingers for more fortune today. View our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Buy The Dip – Lingfield, 17:18

Buy The Dip was far from disgraced when finishing third in a tricky race at Newmarket last time out and sticking with the same grade today, the 4-year-old could be open to progression.

Buy The Dip has already won over C&D at Brighton and Lingfield this summer and having been inched down 1lb in the rankings ahead of today’s burst, he stands out as the one to back on the best horse racing betting sites.

Harry Eustace could also have a candidate in Valellina, meanwhile. A winner at Kempton last year, she’s been in the frame in three of his last four races and despite being largely unexposed on turf, there is definite potential to unlock.

Maxzeno, who has placed in six of his last 13 starts, completes the trio of likely contenders.

Best Tip #2: Jewel Maker – Carlisle, 18:55

Jewel Maker improved to score at Pontefract in his penultimate race on July 19 and shaped up well again despite finishing second at the same track nine days later.

With his stride being hit, he represents an attractive prospect off the same mark at Carlisle today where he will compete over a slightly longer distance. Tim Easterby’s 9-year-old earns the nod here.

Some thought should also be given to Medici Pass who arrives in Carlisle on the back of two wins in three.

Those victories were achieved on Tapeta back in March, so there is a bit to prove here, however, the filly should be in good shape having blown off the cobwebs when finishing 6th at Ayr last month after a 130-day break, so a better push could be in the works today.

Best Roughie: King Ferdinand, Cork – 17:05

King Ferdinand only hit tenth on his first appearance of the year at Tipperary in July, however, he ran without his usual tongue tie on that occasion and with the aid reapplied, a better effort is expected here.

The 8-year-old signed off for 2023 with a narrow loss in this race at Cork (2nd), having won twice over C&D in successive bouts at Tipperary before that. He’s just 2lb higher this time around and could make another splash.

Elsewhere, Ta Na La has been the preference for others on the best betting apps. Ted Walsh’s mare scored at Bellewstown when last seen in the first week of July and if conditions stay reasonably dry today, she should have credentials again.

Curragh maiden winner Harley Street, is another with decent claims for Joseph O’Brien.

  • An extra dollop of stamina can serve horses well at Carlisle due to the lengthy inclined finish at the track. Trainers Tim Easterby and KR Burke have done some excellent work at Carlisle over the last five flat campaigns.
  • The circuit at Cork is considered a fair and level setting and as a consequence, horses of all types can excel there. Big hitters Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott and Henry De Bromhead have been the most dominant trainers at Cork over the last five seasons.
