Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 04/10

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card features events at Ascot, Fontwell, Hexham, Newcastle, Dundalk and Gowran Park across the UK and Ireland, giving the sport’s punters plenty to sink their teeth into ahead of the weekend.

Yesterday, our three selections returned a winner at Bellewstown (Poetic Sound) and a placed horse at Warwick (Roccovango), so let’s hope our latest horse racing betting tips below deliver a similar return.

Best Tip #1:  Mr Percy – Gowran Park, 13:15

JP O’Brien’s Mr Percy won a maiden race at Gowran Park in early September with relative ease and could be the one to back at the same venue today when switching disciplines to hurdling.

The 4-year-old is a consistent sort that has a record of 2-2-2-1 from his last four outings and if he can handle the jumps, he could set the standard again.

Tonaghneave Well meanwhile, looks best positioned to pose a challenge. Gavin Cromwell’s charge is a bumper winner and was also in the frame in each of his last two maiden hurdle races at Kilbeggan.

He drops back in distance today and that could aid his chances of beating all. Tonaghneave Well is a name to track with interest on horse racing betting sites.

Best Tip #2: Revoke – Dundalk, 18:15

Revoke turned heads on her debut in a fillies’ maiden race at Naas back in August when reaching the winning post cosily ahead of 11 others and a follow up triumph could be in the works at Dundalk today.

Revoke was heavily backed to perform at Naas, though prices are kinder this time around and with Colin Keane booked for the saddle, she has plenty going for her here.

Elsewhere, Arizona Blaze brings more experience than most to the fight today and the 2-year-old warrants plenty of respect as a result.

A winner in a Group 3 race at The Curragh in May, Arizona Blaze has had another four promising runs since and hasn’t finished out of the frame. A solid contender again today.

Best Roughie: The Brickey Ranger – Fontwell, 14:35

Now this one requires a little faith, especially at the prices quoted, though The Brickey Ranger was a winner on heavy grond in an Irish point race in March and went close to following up when finishing second in a Hunter Chase at Tramore in April.

He didn’t shine as brightly when 6th at Uttoxeter in June, however, he makes his stable debut for new owner JW Mullins and looks like a good each-way prospect.

Hattrick chasing Hell Hound could be a more palatable choice on sports betting apps for punters with tighter fists, however.

The 5-year-old won back-to-back races at Ludlow and Southwell in the spring and summer, and though he will need to show progress to defy a penalty today, he should be in the mix if today’s race at Fontwell goes to form.

Stats and Insights

  • Stamnia and a galloping skillset are useful attributes to have at Gowran Park due to the testing nature of the course. Big names like Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott, Henry De Bromhead, Gavin Cromwell and Noel Meade are the trainers to look out for at Gowran Park.
  • Dundalk is an All-Weather venue that uses the same Polytrack surface as some of the circuits found in the UK. Jockeys Colin Keane, Ronan Whelan, WJ Lee and Declan McDonogh are all in action at Dundalk today and all four have useful records at the track.
  • The course at Fontwell is a standard oval circuit of approximately a mile around. Gary Moore has had more wins there (61) than any other trainer over the last five jump racing seasons at the track.
