Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 04/04

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

There are meetings at Lingfield, Southwell, Warwick, Wolverhampton, Clonmel and Naas across the UK and Ireland to fill up Thursday’s race card, giving us ample opportunity to dig out some more profit from the day’s racing. Yesterday, two of our three selections won thanks to Eye of Dubai (Catterick) and Brioni (Kempton), so let’s hope for a similar outcome today. Check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1: Epic Express – Lingfield, 1.50

Epic Express returned from a lengthy 128-day sojourn with a bang on March 22nd when he won by two and a half lengths to score at Lingfield.

He’s back at the same track today where he faces a similar trip and despite incurring a 7lb increase after his success, the 6-year-old is taken to deliver the goods again.

The stiffest competition could come in the form of Saturnalia. The 4-year-old still has relatively few miles on the clock and has had plenty of backing on other horse racing betting sites.

A win at Lingfield last August was noteworthy and though he hasn’t posted any follow-up victories since, he will start as market favourite in today’s first race at the same course.

Best Tip #2: Spanish Harlem – Clonmel, 4.38

Spanish Harlem has yet to realise his potential, though he looks wide open to further progression and today’s opening race at Clonmel could provide the platform he needs.

The 6-year-old shaped up well to finish third at Gowran Park last month before he was beaten by stablemate Tactical Move, though Willie Mullins’ charge could be ready to take a couple of steps forward here.

The obvious alternative is Duffle Coat, who represents Gordon Elliot. The former Grade 2 winner caught the eye in both outings since the turn of the year at Punchestown (2nd) and Gowran (2nd), so expect involvement again.

Gaelic Arc, who was runner-up at Naas on his last effort, completes a trio of likely candidates.

Best Roughie: Jouster – Naas, 4.15

Jouster enters this tough test at Naas on the back of a fine win at Fairyhouse where he beat today’s rival Solly Attwell to the post.

The 5-year-old has an 8lb increase to shoulder this time around, though the slightly shorter trip should help to offset that and Jouster is our pick to score for the second time running.

Hillsdale is listed as joint-favourite alongside Solly Attwell on sports betting apps in the ante-post betting. Serial-winning jockey Paul Townend is in the saddle today and Hillsdale won carrying him at Naas as recently as March 10th.

Three In A Row is another unexposed runner who could be worth shortlisting. He scratched at some unreleased potential at Naas (3rd) last month.

Stats and Insights

  • There is a 7 furlong downhill straight at Lingfield to look out for that can favour the speedier types. Jockey Alistair Rawlinson has a 33% win rate at Lingfield this term while trainer Charlie Johnston has won on 25% of his visits there.
  • The track at Clonmel is set out over a rectangular shape and there is a testing uphill finish to overcome which asks questions of a horse’s stamina. Jockeys Paul Townend and PW Mullins have both won 60% of their races at Clonmel this season.
  • Naas is a course for the gallopers and alongside a 4 furlong straight, there is another uphill finish to conquer. The current season is still in its infancy at Naas, though GM Lyons is the only trainer to have two wins there so far.
