Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 04/03

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

The brand-new racing week commences with a bang on Monday with four potentially profit-laden events to analyse at Plumpton, Southwell, Wolverhampton and Leopardstown. Conditions across the UK & Ireland are expected to be soft today, though we’ve relied on some hard research to pick out our selection of free horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.

Best Tip #1: Mr Freedom – Plumpton 3.52

Mr Freedom has been keeping his performance levels admirably high since completing a hattrick of flat race wins back in the summer and his ability to conquer testing ground earns favour today over the competition.

The 5-year-old has placed on all four hurdle starts so far this season and a 2lb rise shouldn’t stop him from being right in the mix again in the 3.52.

Elsewhere, Mr Mackay has been gathering interest on other betting sites for horse racing over the past 24 hours.

The 5-year-old is still relatively unexposed having started just six jump races and he looked the part when finishing second in a Class 3 Hurdle Handicap at Hereford in January. A 7lb claim under jockey James Turner also looks useful for this contender.

Best Tip #2:  Samazul – Southwell 4.40

Samazul is a former bumper winner who competed well in a Class 3 Maiden Hurdle (5th) at Newbury in late January and the 6-year-old should be a real threat when dropping down a couple of grades today.

Samazul’s last victory came over 2m at Southwell in a flat race (Dec ’22) and he looks well-placed to deliver another win on his handicap debut. He will wear a tongue-tie for the first time today and is taken to realise his potential here.

We Got Your Back looks like an alternative with merit in the last race of the day at Southwell. The lightly-raced 6-year-old went close over C&D on his handicapping debut on February 18th at the same track and the slight drop back in trip could heighten his chances of winning on his return.

Arabescato meanwhile, is a five-time flat winner and could also be one to watch on his second outing at Southwell since the turn of the year.

Best Roughie: Pipers Boreen – Leopardstown 3.30

Pipers Boreen has been an improver of late since making the switch over to handicaps and ran clear to second place at Fairyhouse on New Year’s Day before enjoying a win over a longer distance at Punchestown on February 5th.

Pipers Boreen showed staying power to hold off favourite Bestaline that day and she is taken to beat the same competitor today. There is an 8lb rise to consider, however, she should be in the final reckoning.

Punters perusing the best betting apps in the horse racing space are likely to have seen Malina Girl put forward as a viable option in the 3.30. She posted an impressive second-place finish at a Class 1 Listed Chase event at Exeter over 3m in early February and a step-up from that looks possible.

She will also enjoy a 31lb lower mark on her return to hurdling plus the added bonus of her rider’s claim, so there is plenty to be positive about there.

Stats and Insights

  • Plumpton tends to suit the speedier, agile types due to the rapid runaround and sharp turns there, while the six tricky fences at the circuit also demand a spring. Both the hurdle and chase tacks run in the same direction and there is an uphill finish to navigate in each event type.
  • Southwell features a left-handed oval track that goes for approximately a mile. The nicely flat run is a bit on the narrow side at Southwell and again, sprinters can often be the ones to back. It’s always worth looking for horses trained by Dan Skelton at Southwell due to his recent successes there.
  • Leopardstown is one for the gallopers with the gentle bends around the flat, left-handed track allowing runners to build up and maintain speed. Irish trainers Aidan O’Brien and Willie Mullins have been the kings of Leopardstown for some time, so look out for horses from their world-renowned stables.
