Alongside day four of the Punchestown Festival, Friday’s race card line-up is padded out by separate meetings across the UK at Cheltenham, Goodwood, Musselburgh, Newcastle and Newmarket, giving punters a whole host of options to consider in the markets. Yesterday, one of our three selections returned a winner when Teahupoo delivered for Gordon Elliott at Punchestown. Below, you can check out our latest horse racing betting tips for the day’s action.
Best Tip #1: Its On The Line – Punchestown, 17:25
Last year’s winner of the Event Power Champion Hunters Chase, Its On The Line, returns to defend his crown in the 2024 renewal and trainer Emmet Mullins could taste success with his favoured 7-year-old again.
Its On The Line has put in plenty of solid performances already this season and a second-place run at Cheltenham in March was improved upon when he scored at Aintree on April 11th. This talented runner has even more potential to release and is taken to deliver again.
Elsewhere, Famous Clermont could also move into contention and has been doing good business on other horse racing betting sites. He made his first appearance of the year at Wincanton (2nd) when a mistake at the last cost him his flowers, however, he remains fresh enough to challenge today.
Lifetime Ambition is another with credentials, and the 9-year-old caught the eye when winning at Cork last month.

Best Tip #2: Premier Magic – Cheltenham, 18:20
Premier Magic pulled up when last seen at the Cheltenham Festival in the Challenge Cup Hunters’ Chase here 7 weeks ago, however, there is a chance he bounces back at the same track today.
The 11-year-old won this race as odds-on favourite in 2023 and he could take some stopping in today’s renewal. Trainer-rider Bradley Gibbs knows his way around the Cheltenham circuit and if he manages to close in on top form, he could surge away.
Deise Aba is shaping up well to offer some competition, however. The smart handicapper won a Class 5 Hunter Chase at Stratford last month, which was his first outing since March the previous year.
Fairly Famous could also come into the reckoning under Miss Gina Andrews. The 7-year-old enjoyed a winning run at last year’s meeting and should find conditions to his liking today.

Best Roughie: Gisburn – Goodwood, 15:15
We head over to Goodwood to find our longer odds selection today and Gisburn catches the eye in the day’s fourth race in West Sussex. Gisburn was a C&D winner at Goodwood last October and though that was his only triumph in 19 previous attempts, his former success at the circuit could count.
Gisburn didn’t pull up any trees a Newcastle (7th) and Newbury (13th) since the turn of the year, however, he is open to improvement.
Spanish Star, who won last year’s edition of this race, has been garnering attention on betting apps and should also feature on plenty of shortlists here. He is up 3lb since winning this renewal in 2023, though that increase isn’t significant enough to be a concern.
Bishop’s Crown meanwhile, is chasing a hattrick and scored over 6f at Windsor last month. The 4-year-old is another that warrants respect here.

Stats and Insights
- Gordon Elliott outshone rival Willie Mullins on day three of the Punchestown Festival, earning three wins to his antagonist’s one. Mullins has won the Events Power Champion Chase Hurdle just once since 2008, which is why we’ve chosen to avoid his entries this time around.
- Both the Old and New Course at Cheltenham are left-handers and testing. Trainers Wille Mullins, Gavin Cromwell and Nicky Henderson have traditionally been successful at Cheltenham, though most of the big-hitters at Punchestown this week, giving today’s meeting in Cheltenham a more open feel.
- At Goodwood, you’ll encounter one of the more unique settings in the UK and most race types there include sharp turns and swift downhill finishes. Trainers Andrew Balding, William Haggas and Richard Hannon have been doing good work at Goodwood this term, while jockey Tom Marquand has ten wins there from 53 outings this season.
