Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 02/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s racing card line-up is packed to the stable rafters with superb events with races at Catterick, Lingfield, Newcastle, Southwell and Dundalk giving us plenty of scope to hunt for winners. Yesterday, we landed a winner at 5/1 thanks to Heure de Glorie’s triumph at Ffos Las and below, we’ve laid out more expert horse racing predictions to warm you up ahead of the weekend alongside odds from some of the best sports betting sites in the UK. Check out today’s horse racing tips below.

Best Tip #1: Moore Clouds – Catterick 2.35

Moore Clouds has won two chases and a point-to-point from 2m 1f to 3m on varying groud and delivered the goods at 5/1 at Sedgefield in her last chase back in December.

Andrew Wilson’s mare off a mere 1lb higher mark than at Sedgefield and she is favoured to take advantage of that light increase and of the good ground conditions forecast at Catterick later on.

Alternatives favoured on various other horse racing betting sites include Berliet Express, who turned heads with a third-place finish at Market Rasen on January 9th.

Treaty Boy meanwhile, makes a handicap chase debut and will be tongue-tied for the first time. He could surprise a few under Ross Chapman if things go well. However, Moore Clouds earns the most attention here and a second successive win for the 9-year-old could be worth punting.

Best Tip #2:  Sir Titan – Lingfield 1.47

Sir Titan was a winner at Lingfield last month when he held on by a neck under Molly Gunn to end a losing streak. Sir Titan won over 1m last month, so should have little trouble dropping back in distance.

He will start off a 2lb higher mark, though that isn’t significant enough to make an impact and he is taken to do the business at a meaty price again today.

Opposition could come in the form of Rivas Roby Roy who missed out narrowly when finishing second at Lingfield on January 2nd.

Outreach, who is trained by Mark Usher takes good form from Wolverhampton over to Northern Ireland today and should also be respected. Dulcet Spirit also holds interest, especially with Rossa Ryan taking the reins.

Best Roughie: Charlisse – Dundalk 6.00

Charlisse ran like a juggernaut when she won a 7f handicap race at Dundalk last September and that was her second win at the course in as many visits.

While the field in September wasn’t as strong as today’s, previous form should count and she is taken at a big price to make it three wins from three at Dundalk. The mare has only made three career starts in total, and she has been nicely drawn with just a 5lb rise to consider.

Miqdad was also a recent winner at Dundalk when he won the Apprentice Maiden, though he also has a 5lb rise to bear and the step up in distance might be too tough a test.

Charlisse deserves more consideration here and she has already been backed into a tighter price in the markets, suggesting that odds could be further slashed ahead of time.

Stats and Insights

  • Catterick often rewards previous winners, so look out for horses who’ve already enjoyed success at the track when surfing for options. The undulating track has tight bends throughout, so front runners are often best positioned to succeed.
  • The 7 furlong downhill straight at Lingfield is routinely favoured and gobbled up by rapid runners, so strong sprinters are always worth a look there. There is a pretty hefty draw bias over near the high stall numbers on the straight track. Factor that in if possible.
  • Dundalk is fair and flat, which is a perfect recipe for close finishes, while a draw bias exists for sprint trips due to the track’s early bend. Low draws get the advantage there. Dundalk uses a Polytrack surface, so experience on that ground is a positive.
