Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 01/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card is a busy edition with meetings across the UK and Ireland at Newcastle, Newmarket, Uttoxeter, Wetherby, Down Royal and Dundalk on the docket to keep us ticking over.

Yesterday, we delivered another winner when we tipped Harrys Hope to win at Stratford while a second of our three tips, Albus Anne, placed at Bath. View our latest horse racing betting tips for today’s action below.

Best Tip #1: Hawaii Du Mestivel – Uttoxeter, 14:35

Neil Mullholland’s Hawaii Du Mestivel is chasing a hattrick today after excellent back-to-back showings and the lightly-raced 7-year-old earns our nod to seal the deal at Uttoxeter.

A winner in some style at both Fontwell over 2m 6f in August and Bangor over a trip of 2m 4f in September, Hawaii Du Mestivel will run off a decent mark again today and is shaping up like a big contender once more.

Elsewhere, My Monty could pose a threat having already proven his worth at this circuit earlier in the year.

He hasn’t been in action since June, but the 7-year-old signed off with two solid displays in Uttoxeter, finishing first and then second in similar races over a 2m 7f trip. If he can recapture that form, he could be worth a prolonged look on the best horse racing betting sites.

Best Tip #2: Brighterdaysahead – Down Royal, 14:05

Gordon Elliot’s Brighterdaysahead is been close to unbeatable over the last 12 months and her only loss in her last five hurdle events came in the mares’ novices’ at Cheltenham in March, where she landed in second place and was far from disgraced.

A winner most recently at Aintree, the 5-year-old returns to the fold today to compete over a shorter distance, though Brighterdaysahead should be the one to set the standard again.

The Willie Mullins and Paul Townend combination should also be primed to have a go with Daddy Long Legs, meanwhile. The 5-year-old can blow hot and cold, though he followed up a disastrous 19th at Galway with a win at Tipperary directly after in a Grade 3 race, so has the quality to shine here.

He left today’s rival Smooth Tom in the dust on that occasion, so expect Daddy Long Legs to feature.

Best Roughie: Lady Luzon – Newmarket, 13:43

Lady Luzon toiled and was outpaced at Ayr last month and finished 11th out of 14th on a rotten outing, though the 2-year-old’s record before that of 2-1-2-1 from four lower class races hinted at real potential and an improvement up the grades could be in the offing here.

That first Listed attempt at Ayr might have opened her eyes a little and a second bash at that level today might reap sweeter dividends.

Magic Mild is expected to set a high bar, however. The progressive filly was involved near the front in a Class 1 race at Salisbury last month before finishing second, though she won successive races here at Newmarket over 6f before that and should have strong claims to taste more success on her return to the course. Still priced attractively on betting apps, Magic Mild warrants plenty of respect.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Uttoxeter is fair in the main, though the fences can be tricky to conquer and horses need to be confident jumpers to prevail. Trainers Olly Murphy, Dan Skelton and Fergal O’Brien are the names to follow closely at Uttoxeter.
  • Down Royal is a right-handed run, though it can take some going and the stiffness of the course demands stamina from horses with aspirations of success. Gordon Elliott has been the most prolific trainer by far at Down Royal, posting an unmatched 59 wins there over the last five seasons.
  • The Newmarket with its Rowley Mile is nice and wide, though the infamous dip a few furlongs from home can test uninitiated horses. Charlie Appleby has been the most dominant trainer at Newmarket and has capped a century of wins there over the last five campaigns.
