The Randox Health Topham Steeple Chase was named the John Hughes Steeple Chase when established in 1989 after the late clerk of the course. In 2001, it changed name to the Topham Chase. This is a Grade 3 level National Hunt Handicap Chase run. It takes place at the Aintree Grand National in April each year.
The race covers a distance of two miles and five furlongs. In the 2012 chase, Always Waining was the first horse to win this event three consecutive years running under trainer, Peter Bowen, and jockey, Tom O’Brien.

Randox Health Topham Steeple Chase Tips, Predictions, and Previews
Note: the tips below refer to the 2021 Grand National Festival; updated previews will be available on the week of the 2022 Festival.
Caribean Boy was an eyecatcher after being outpaced in the Plate at Cheltenham last month. He could go well over these fences in a race Nicky Henderson has won five times but the Topham might go the way of LIVELOVELAUGH for Patrick and Willie Mullins in the Rich Ricci silks. He was a non-stayer in the 2019 Grand National but jumped these obstacles superbly well before fading from three out. He’s rated 1lb higher here, but has run cracking races in two competitive Leopardstown handicaps of late and shouldn’t be far way over this distance back around the National Course.
Selection: Livelovelaugh @ 13/2
