The Goffs Nickel Coin Mares’ Standard Open NH Flat is one of the more recent additions to the annual Grand National meeting. Established as a listed race in 2005, the Goffs Nickel Coin Mares’ Standard Open NH Flat only attained grade two status in 2016.
This National Hunt race was named in honour of the mare Nickel Coin, who won the Grand National back in 1951. No other mare has managed to accomplish this feat in the seventy years since.
It’s unsurprising, then, that this race is only open to mares.

Goffs Nickel Coin Mares’ Standard Open NH Flat: Tips, Predictions and Previews
Note: the tips below refer to the 2021 Grand National Festival; updated previews will be available on the week of the 2022 Festival.
EILEENDOVER is already 3-3 in bumpers and this Canford Cliffs filly swatted away a good field at Market Rasen in January, form very well advertised since. The undulations of Cheltenham were deemed not for her and she’s got standout claims here, with a return to decent ground only going to help. C&D winner Elle Est Belle finished a good third in the Champion Bumper and is a threat, while Nicky Henderson’s Tweed Skirt is one for place players at a big price.
Selection: Eileendover @ 10/11
