It has been quite a long wait, but the Doom Bar Maghull Novices’ Steeplechase is finally coming up again.
Held every April since 1954, this race for novice chasers takes its name from the town of Maghull, just north of Aintree, where the race takes place. It is a grade one race that stretches for just under two miles.
Novice races such as these are a punter’s favourite because the less experienced racehorses competing makes the field more open for an underdog to win. So, what might you expect from this upcoming event?

Doom Bar Maghull Novices’ Steeplechase: Tips, Predictions and Previews
Note: the tips below refer to the 2021 Grand National Festival; updated previews will be available on the week of the 2022 Festival.
All about SHISKIN here after his demolition job in the Arkle at Cheltenham saw him go 4-4 over fences. Allmankind couldn’t live with him in the Cotswolds and, with the greatest of respect, these four rivals haven’t got a prayer unless he meets misfortune. When will see him tested?
Gumball and Funambule Sivola have both shown a liking for the lead, which could be costly when the jolly swings on by, so the consistent Elvis Mail might end up sneaking the silver medal.
