In 2024 the five-day meeting runs from Tuesday 30th July until Saturday 3rd August and features a host of group-race action that brings together some of the star thoroughbreds from the United Kingdom, Ireland, continental Europe and further afield.
For five days in summer sunshine the racecourse at Goodwood is awash with the latest in style and fashion, while adhering to the strong tradition of the Glorious Goodwood experience.
This is truly a festival like no other and a staple of British racing with group-race action and tough handicaps for punters to try and solve.
Here’s an overview of the five days of Glorious Goodwood and what you can expect to see:
Day one is all about the stayers’ and the stamina-sapping Goodwood Cup over two-miles, a Group 1 contest offering a purse of £500,000. John Gosden’s superstar Stradivarius holds the record for the most victories in this prestigious race.

Amongst the most memorable of recent renewals of this great race was the 2011 ‘Duel on the Downs’ when the great Frankel dispatched reigning champion Canford Cliffs. The late Sir Henry Cecil’s charge would emerge victorious again a year later and remains the only dual winner of the Sussex Stakes.
