Cheltenham Festival Day 4: Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle

The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival is a National Hunt hurdle race. As part of the world-famous Cheltenham Festival, it is registered as the Spa Novices’ Hurdles, with the Grade 1 run on the fourth day.

It’s a relatively recent addition to the Cheltenham Festival, dating back to 2005. The race was added along with several other events when a fourth day was first introduced. It takes place on the final day of the festival, directly preceding the Gold Cup.

Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle: Tips and Predictions

Note: the predictions below refer to the 2021 running of this race – preview will be updated closer to the beginning of the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.

The toughest of the Grade 1 novice hurdles this week to call by some distance. The Irish sent out bloodless winners in Appreciate It and Bob Olinger in the Supreme and Ballymore but it will be a shock if this is won as readily. Stattler and Fakiera are strong contenders for Ireland but this prize may not be for export.

Adrimel, Threeunderthrufive and Alphaphillipe are big players but BARBADOS BUCK’S has been thriving at this distance for Paul Nicholls. He’s in the famous Big Buck’s silks that made this C&D their own in the Stayers’ and can rekindle memories of that superstar.
