There are four open races at Sheffield on Tuesday night as the track continues to build towards the Steel City Cup, with the final touches being put to a number of the challengers for overall glory.
The lights will be on again at Owlerton for another cracking night of greyhound action and here are our tips for Tuesday’s action.
Cascade to be Crowned King
Very lightly raced for his age, Stuart Buckland’s son of Droopys Sydney has quickly made up into a decent sort since arriving from Ireland. A semi-finalist in the Birmingham Cup at Perry Barr, he beat a decent field at that track in a supporting race on final night.
Cascade King will need to step up on his first look at this track on the bare time that he produced but he is certainly entitled to come on for that initial experience of this course and should be more than good enough in the 19.41.
Raise a Glass to Whiskey
He is going to be a very short price tonight but it is hard to look past Freedom Whiskey in the sprint contest at 19.09. Tom Heilbron’s Newcastle raider is a tough and consistent type who was a fluent winner on his most recent visit to this track.
He is the sole seeded runner with four railers to his left so he should get plenty of room to himself on the run to the bend which hands him an advantage that he shouldn’t relinquish.
Baz to Boss them
Probably not suited by a middle draw in four last week, the two wins at this track from Ballyboss Baz have come from traps five and six. His most recent success came from the former where he finds himself once more tonight for Barrie Draper at 20.12.
He timed his break to perfection on that occasion, clocking a smart 28.87 in the process. A repeat of that sort of clocking would set a strong standard for the others to aim at.
Sally to Score for Fenwick
Jimmy Fenwick’s puppy Bellmore Sally has made a promising start to her career. She has already made the final of both the Puppy Classic and the Empress Stakes, against a field of fellow pups on this occasion.
There is not much between her, the two and the three on their respective form at Newcastle but her draw inside one who lacks a look at Sheffield looks a lovely slot for her to work from in the 18.36.
Early Attack to Pay Dividends for Weatherall
A slow starter on his immediate inside in the 21.02 looks a tidy draw for Massive Attack to take advantage of. He has won two of his four starts at this level for Carol Weatherall and should soon be in control of this A4 contest.
