The Ryder Cup is one of the most-anticipated sporting events on the golfing calendar. It takes place every two years at various venues which alternate between European and US golf courses.
The event is jointly organised by the PGA of America and Ryder Cup Europe and is held on odd years.
The format of the competition has changed over the years with the Ryder Cup having been extended to three days in 1963 followed by an increase in the team size (10 to 12) six years later.
As of 2024, Team USA have been victorious on 27 occasions whilst Team Europe (previously Great Britain and Ireland) have been successful on 30 occasions. The Ryder Cup has twice ended in a tie.
