Plymouth vs Derby Analysis

Plymouth

Plymouth broke a six-game losing streak in midweek with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Portsmouth on Wednesday evening, however, they remain rooted to the Championship table ahead of Saturday’s relegation six-pointer against Derby.

Despite their struggles, Home Park has been a decently fertile hunting ground for Argyle this term with Plymouth losing only four of their last 17 assignments at that venue in all competitions.

However, though Plymouth have home advantage again on Saturday, markets have been moving against them on sports betting apps where they are currently priced as underdogs.

Team news: Muhamed Tijani, Adam Randell, Brendon Galloway and Joseph Hatch are all out of action for Plymouth through injury while Matthew Sorinola is suspended.

Predicted Lineup: Hazard, Talovierov, Katic, Pleguezuelo, Szucs, Houghton, Gyabi, Puchacz, Hardie, Obafemi, Bundu

Derby

It took some time, but Derby are finally starting to see an uptick in form and results under new manager John Eustace and the Rams head to Plymouth in search of their third win on the spin in the Championship.

County’s win over Blackburn (2-1) in a grudge match against Eustace’s former employers last weekend provided a much-needed lift and Derby followed that victory up with another in midweek when they registered an impressive 2-0 success over high-flying Coventry.

Derby, who are favourites to win again on Saturday on Championship betting sites, can head to Home Park with renewed confidence.

Team news: Kemar Roofe, Lars Salvesen, Nahaniel Mendez-Laing, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Ben Osborn, David Ozoh, Dajaune Brown and Curtis Nelson are injured for Derby..

Predicted Lineup: Widell Zetterstrom, Phillips, Clarke, Forsyth, Nyambe, Adams, Armstrong, Thompson, Elder, Yates, Harness

Plymouth vs Derby Stats and Trends

  • Plymouth have lost only 4 of their last 17 games on home soil in all competitions.
  • Only Oxford (6.70) have been conceding more corners per 90 than Plymouth (6.35) in the Championship this season.
  • Both teams managed to score in eight of Plymouth’s last 11 home matches in the Championship.
  • Plymouth have the worst defensive record in the Championship this season having conceded a mammoth 74 goals.

Plymouth vs Derby Prediction

Derby enjoyed back-to-back wins over the past week, but both victories were earned at Pride Park and County haven’t won an away fixture since November 6th. Plymouth have been difficult to beat at Home Park, though five of their last 11 matches at that venue finished all square and the same outcome could be worth backing here in what could be a tense encounter between two prime relegation candidates.

Prediction: Draw – 23/10 (+230) – RhinoBet

Plymouth vs Derby – The Ultimate Bet:

Plymouth double chance – 1/2 (-200)

Plymouth battled their way to a potentially crucial 2-1 win over Portsmouth in midweek and back at Home Park, where they have lost only four times in 17 assignments, Argyle could pose problems for Derby County.

The Rams have won twice on the spin at Pride Park, however, their away form continues to underwhelm and they failed to win any of their last ten Championship fixtures on the road.

Plymouth avoided defeat against bottom-five sides Cardiff, Oxford and Luton at home earlier in the campaign and they offer decent value to do the same in the double chance market against third-from-bottom Derby on Saturday.
