Cheltenham Festival Day 2: Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle

The Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle is a National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain open to horses older than four years. It takes place on the Old Course at Cheltenham, is 4,225 metres long, and has ten hurdles to be jumped.

Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle: Tips and Predictions

Note: the predictions below refer to the 2021 running of this race – preview will be updated closer to the beginning of the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.

St Patrick’s Day it may well be and the Irish hand looks strong with Bob Olinger and Gaillard Du Mesnil in this small-field renewal of the Ballymore, but they might get dealt an opening blow from BRAVEMANSGAME.

Paul Nicholls is very positive about his hopes and he looked a powerful unit in winning the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury in December – earning comparisons with Nicholls’ previous winner of that race, Denman. ‘The Tank’ was second in this in 2006 but Bravemansgame can go one better and deny Bob Olinger in a cracking opening contest despite the reduced numbers.
