Hull vs Luton Analysis

Hull

The international break came at an inopportune time for Hull, who were starting to build a head of steam in the race for Championship survival before their enforced hiatus.

City were beaten just once in seven assignments before the domestic campaign was paused and though the gap between themselves and the relegation zone remains a narrow two points, Hull would have gained confidence following their positive burst.

Hull will be chasing their third successive victory on home soil when they host Lutton this weekend and football betting sites have given them a 46.5% chance of completing that hattrick at the Hatters’ expense.

Team news: Cody Drameh, Mohamed Belloumi, Eliot Matazo, Louie Barry and Liam Millar could miss out for Hull through injury.

Predicted Lineup: Pandur, Coyle, Jones, Hughes, McLoughlin, Crooks, Alzate, Slater, Burstow, Joseph, Gelhardt

Luton

Luton had looked destined for the drop after the turn of the year; however, Town had started to claw their way towards safety before the international break with new manager Matt Bloomfield overseeing some improved performances.

The Hatters managed to pocket seven points from the last 12 on offer in the Championship having collected just three of the 39 available before that, while their last away fixture at Cardiff delivered a first win on the road of the campaign (2-1).

Playoff rivals Middlesbrough, Millwall and Norwich were all seen off during that run while City also took points off title-challenging Sheffield United at Bramall Lane (1-1), showcasing their swell in confidence.

Luton remain prime relegation candidates on most EFL betting sites, however, another positive result on Saturday could spark a more favourable shift in the markets for Town.

Team news: Luton could missing Daiki Hashioka, Teden Mengi, Tahith Chong, Marvelous Nakamba, Shandon Baptiste and Tom Lockyer on Saturday.

Predicted Lineup: Kaminski, Makosso, McGuinness, Bell, Jones, Walsh, Clark, Aasgaard, Doughty, Morris, Abebayo

  • Luton’s Carlton Morris has scored seven goals and collected seven yellow cards in the Championship since August.

Hull vs Luton Prediction

With just six points separating the sides near the foot of the division, Hull’s clash with Luton feels like a crucial fixture in the battle for survival, though it’s a game that both teams will be desperate not to lose. Hull (1 loss in 7) and Luton (1 loss in 4) have both hardened their resolve in recent weeks and with neither side likely to play with much risk, a share of the spoils could be the likeliest outcome.

Prediction: Draw – 23/10 (+230) – Fitzdares

Hull vs Luton – The Ultimate Bet:

Hull to win the most corners – 4/5 (-125)

With home advantage to harness, Hull should be the team to set the tempo on Saturday and with City likely to dominate in terms of possession and territory, they look like excellent value to win the corner battle against Luton.

Hull have won at least five corners in three of their last four home fixtures in the Championship while Luon have conceded five or more in six of their last 11 games in the division.

Town have also been averaging just 39.9% possession per away game this term, which shows how often they tend to get pinned back, so back Hull to lead the charge for corners here.
