Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 09/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Saturday’s race card is a typically busy edition with meetings scheduled to take place across the UK and Ireland at Aintree, Chelmsford, Doncaster, Kelso, Wincanton and Gowran Park. Yesterday, we capped a very profitable midweek run with yet another winner thanks to Skyjack Hijack’s effort at Exeter. Let’s hope our latest horse racing betting tips below yield similar results.

Best Tip #1: Dedicated Hero – Kelso, 11:10

Dedicated Hero, who returns from a six-month break today and revisits the scene of his last success in May, earns the nod to complete a hattrick bid in the day’s opener at Kelso.

A back-to-back winner at this course in the spring, Dedicated Hero did the business in a Class 2 National Hunt Flat race when last seen and should be a threat dropping down the grades for this attempt at hurdles.

Miss Lucinda Russell’s Tommys Law could also be worth a market check on horse racing betting sites. The 5-year-old has finished second four times in a row, though today’s longer trip could bring about an overdue improvement if things go his way.

He landed in the runners up spot at Kelso in a similar race two weeks ago and can use that display as a platform.

Best Tip #2: Le Bugiste – Gowran Park, 13:37

Gavin Cromwell enjoyed plenty of success in France with Le Bugiste and the talented 4-year-old charge could make a splash on his first outing on Irish soil at Gowran Park.

The three-time flat winner will go hurdling for the first time today, though she has what it takes to set a high standard. Expect her price to narrow closer to race time.

Gordon Elliott’s Casheldale Lad is currently leading the markets, though he has a bit to prove having not raced in over a year.

The youngster was a winner at Punchestown for previous owner Andrew Kinirons on his only outing so far (Oct 2023), and is a fascinating prospect for his new connections today, especially if his jumping remains solid.

Best Roughie: Harper’s Brook – Aintree, 14:40

Dan Skelton’s Harper’s Brook has a chance to defy a big price on betting apps in what looks like an open race at Aintree this afternoon.

He was a consistent sort last year and can count runs to second at Sandown and Ascot, as well as a follow-up victory back at Sandown in a Class 2 race among his previous best performances. Fresh from a wind op, the 8-year-old makes his bow for Skelton today and could ruffle some feathers.

Elsewhere, Sure Touch is also likely to be thereabouts for Olly Murphy. He hasn’t been in action since July, but signed off with four wins on the trot before his break.

With a record of nine wins in 18 races overall, Sure Touch peaked when landing the Summer Plate at Market Rasen in July and inched up just 6lb here, he should have serious credentials again.

Stats and Insights

  • The hurdles track at Kelso is tight in nature and galloping horses can struggle to build up a head of steam there. Trainers Lucinda Russell, Sandy Thompson and NW Alexander have all had good records at Kelso over the last five seasons.
  • Gowran Park is a circuit for the gallopers and extra stamina can come in handy there to power up the final uphill stretch to the winning post. Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have been the two most dominant trainers over the last five seasons in Kilkenny.
  • Aintree, home of the Grand National, is famed for the difficulty of its fences and the most confident jumpers are usually the ones to back here. Dan Skelton has won an unmatched 22 races at Aintree over the last five campaigns, with Paul Nicholls (16) coming closest to that tally.
