Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 07/11

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Thursday’s race card is another exciting edition with the meetings scheduled across the UK and Ireland at Chelmsford, Ludlow, Newbury, Newcastle, Southwell and Clonmel more than enough to keep punters busy.

Yesterday, we landed yet another winner thanks to Jurancon’s win at Chepstow, while a second of our three tips, Reel Her In, placed at Musselburgh. Let’s hope our latest horse racing betting tips are just as accurate.

Best Tip #1: Race The Wind – Southwell, 15:10

Charlie Appleby’s Race the Wind has been on the track only once this year, though he defied a penalty to win a Wolverhampton Class 5 Novice race on that occasion and could do something similar at Southwell.

The talented 3-year-old, who is available at an attractive price on the best betting sites for horse racing, also delivered the goods at Newmarket on his penultimate outings, so he’s on for a hattrick here.

Roger Varian’s Lady Of Spain is likely to be thereabouts too. A back-to-back winner at Wolverhampton in December and March, the youngster is unbeaten so far and though she has a bit to prove on her handicap debut at Southwell after an eight-month layoff, she has solid credentials in this Class 4 event.

Best Tip #2: Shecouldbeanything – Clonmel, 14:05

Gordon Elliott’s Shecouldbeanything takes top form into today’s tough Class 1 test at Clonmel, though earns our nod ahead of some stiff opposition.

The 7-year-old managed to win each of her last three outings over fences at Listowel, Tipperary and Clonmel, beating today’s rival Pink In The Park in the first of those victories. The progressive sort is backed to become a four-timer here with the booking of Jack Kennedy a positive factor.

Willie Mullins’s Allegorie De Vassy has been backed in as a short-price favourite, however. The top-tier mare won this renewal a year ago and also finished first in a Listed race at Naas the following February.

She disappointed at the Punchestown Festival in May, finishing 4th in a Grade 2 Chase back then, though she carries a big reputation into today’s run.

Best Roughie: Mucuna – Newbury, 12:30

Mucuna is the least fancied horse on the best betting apps in the UK for today’s Class 3 Handicap Hurdle opener at Newbury, though a chance is taken on the 5-year-old.

Anthony Charlton’s charge has a record of 4-5 over hurdles on good ground, which is as impressive as anyone else’s slate here. With potential to release, Mucuna could be a more than useful each-way prospect.

Elsewhere, Olly Murphy’s Schmilsson has been tipped by many to set the standard. A winner on his last appearance at Wetherby in a similar race and trip, the favourably-treated 5-year-old is due a ratings increase shortly.

King William Rufus, who returned to action with a solid run to second at Fontwell last month, is another to keep an eye on.

Stats and Insights

  • Southwell is another left-handed oval track that runs for approximately a mile. With a largely flat, narrow run, sprinters can often be favoured, especially on firmer ground in the summer. Trainer Dan Skelton has enjoyed plenty of success at Southwell over the last five seasons, so keep an eye on his runners there.
  • The rectangular track at Clonmel features a tough uphill finish close to the winning post, so horses need deep reserves of stamina to prevail. Trainers Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott and Henry De Bromhead have been the most successful names at Clonmel over the last five seasons.
  • The circuit at Newbury is a fair setting in the main and powerful galloping horses tend to have a good time there. Look out for horses trained by Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson during the jump race season at Newbury.
