Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 28/10

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Monday’s race card is an action-packed edition with meetings pencilled in across the UK and Ireland at Ayr, Leicester, Newcastle, Redcar, Southwell, Galway and Wexford for punters to enjoy.

Yesterday, we kept our profitable run going with our three selections returning another winner (Copperhead, Aintree) and two placed efforts, including out 14/1 longshot Deise Alba at Wincanton. Check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Jabbar – Galway, 15:45

Gerard O’Leary’s versatile Jabbar gets the nod to prevail in the day’s penultimate race at Galway. The 5-year-old has been in solid form this Autumn and secured impressive wins at Killarney in August and here at Galway earlier this month over 2m 1f.

He drops back in trip today for a flat event, though the dual-purpose charge should be able to adapt. Expect a bold bid from Jabbar here.

For an alternative at a bigger price on the best betting sites for horse racing, Clear Quartz could be an option. A Galway course specialist, the 7-year-old has raced here three times in a row since July, delivering wins twice.

He was successful over 1m on his last appearance in September and though he carries a 7lb increase today, he could be in the mix again.

Best Tip #2: Home Free – Ayr, 15:38

We move over to Scotland for our second selection and to Ayr, where Dan Skelton’s Home Free is taken to beat all in the LiveScore Bet Handicap Chase.

A comfortable winner over fences for the first time at Uttoxeter 22 days ago, the 6-year-old should be a more formidable prospect with that monkey off his back and though there is a 4lb rise to consider, that probably won’t be enough to slow him down.

Elsewhere, Travail D’Orfevre is another name for your shortlist. The 8-year-old has been in the frame in each of his last five races and finished second at Ayr three times in a row during that run at the beginning of the year.

Happily suited by today’s C&D test, Travail D’Orfevre should be thereabouts again if previous form can be recaptured.

Best Roughie: Splashing Out – Wexford, 15:55

Splashing Out has work to do to compete against some bigger names today, however, the 120-rated hurdler, who makes his chase bow here, has talent to wield and could defy a bumper price on betting apps to make an impact.

A record of 1-2-16-2-3 from his last five races featured some solid displays and return from a six-month break today, the 6-year-old has what it takes to surprise a few.

Henry De Bromhead’s Inthepocket is expected to set a high standard as the ante-post favourite, meanwhile.

The top tier operator was a force last year, winning a Grade 1 race at Aintree and a Grade 2 event at Naas, though today will be his first appearance since November 2023, which takes the edge off just a little. Still, if his talent is released, he should be difficult to oppose today.

Stats and Insights

  • The course at Galway is laced with undulations and tight turns, and more agile horses tend to be more successful there. Trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have been the most dominant duo at Galway in recent seasons.
  • Ayr is a left-handed setting with sweeping bends and a downhill dip towards the home bend followed by a final uphill sprint to the line. Lucinda Russell and NW Alexander have been the two most prolific trainers at Ayr over the last five seasons in the jumping sphere.
  • The track at Wexford is marked by sharp turns, while the run-in is just a furlong long, so we like our tips to be involved near the front. Henry De Bromhead has held sway at Wexford in recent seasons, posting an unmatched 31 wins in Ireland’s south east in jump events.
