Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 26/10

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

The weekend is finally upon us and Saturday’s race card brings plenty of flavour with meetings scheduled across the UK and Ireland at Chelmsford, Cheltenham, Doncaster, Kelso, Newbury and Galway. Yesterday, two of our three tips placed, but we’re targeting winners today and to that end, we’ve laid out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Intense Approach – Cheltenham, 13:45

Intense Approach is starting to come good after a sticky start to the hurdling sphere.

The 5-year-old enjoyed back-to-back wins at Downpatrick and Kelso in August and September over similar distances before competing well to finish second in a Class 1 Novice Grade 2 Hurdle race at Chepstow 15 days ago. Based on that run alone, Intense Approach should be in with a decent chance of success here.

Elsewhere, Fine Margin could be another name to consider on horse racing betting sites.

Willie Mullins’ charge pulled up at Worcester last month, but the 3-year-old put three wins together before that over similar distances at Fontwell, Worcester and Bangor. With conditions likely to be good at Cheltenham today, Fine Margin should be thereabouts again.

Best Tip #2: Yaroogh – Newbury, 15:10

William Haggas has a consistent sort in Yaroogh and the hattrick chaser gets the nod to maintain his top form in the day’s fourth race at Newbury over 7f.

A winner in four of his last six races overall, Yaroogh did the business at Chantilly when last seen on October 12th and returning to British soil today, he has excellent credentials again, especially with Tom Marquand in the saddle.

Benevento meanwhile, can also have a say for Raphael Freire. A record of 1-2-1 is nothing to be sniffed at and his win in a Class 1 Listed run at Doncaster last month was an eye-catching performance.

He’s been moving up in trip since the summer and today’s 7f race matches the distance covered in his last triumph. Expect a bold bid from Benevento here.

Best Roughie: Good Earth – Doncaster, 14:05

A double winner in August at Newmarket and Sandown, Good Earth looks undercooked in the markets ahead of today’s effort at Doncaster.

While his limp to 10th at York when last seen wasn’t good for business, the 7-year-old landed in second at Hamilton in a similar race before that and Good Earth, who is available at an attractive price on betting apps, looks like a top each-way prospect again here.

Vintage Clarets is shaping up like another serious contender. The 5-year-old has been in top gear since the end of September and his last two outings returned wins at Chester and Catterick as well as a runner up spot at Ascot.

His last two races were Class 2 affairs, so he should have plenty to give in the same grade today.

Stats and Insights

  • There are just two hurdles inside the final seven furlongs at Cheltenham, so stamina can be useful alongside competent jumping skills. Jockeys Harry Skelton, Nico de Boinville, Sam Twinston-Davies and Harry Cobden have been regular winners at Cheltenham over the last five seasons.
  • The flat course at Newbury contains a straight mile section and galloping types can often surge down that part of the track. Tom Marquand, Oisin Murphy, William Buick, Jim Crowley and James Doyle have been among the top-performing jockeys at Newbury in recent seasons.
  • Doncaster is a pear-shaped circuit with gentle undulations and few horses experience bad luck stories there. Trainers Richard Hannon, John & Thady Gosden, William Haggas, Roger Varian and Andrew Balding are the names to follow closely at Doncaster.
