Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 21/10

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

A new week of racing kicks off with a busy Monday race card and punters have events across the UK and Ireland at Bath, Plumpton, Pontefract, Southwell, Wolverhampton and Gowran Park to look forward to today. View our latest horse racing betting tips for Monday’s action below.

Best Tip #1:  Time To Bite – Plumpton, 14:55

Time To Bite is a front-running type who has been a consistent performer this year, winning on two of his last four outings. One of those victories came at Plumpton over 2m 1f back in February and with previous success at this track to lean on, the 9-year-old could be the one to back on horse racing betting sites again.

Time to Bite has been out of action since June, however, providing there is no ring rust, he should have excellent credentials.

Kankin, who was a winner at Fakenham over a slightly longer trip in May, is shaping up like another possible contender. The reliable sort finished 3-1-5 in his last three outings and should have what it takes to mount a bold bid on his return following a four-month layoff.

Noah’s Light, who posted a second-place finish at Plumpton last month, completes the trio of like candidates.

Best Tip #2: Frankendael – Gowran Park, 17:35

The versatile Frankendael has been in flying form since the summer and can count victories at Ballinrobe and Listowel over hurdles from his last two efforts.

The 5-year-old has also been known to do the business in the flat racing sphere and returning to that niche today, the in-form charge could be tough to stop. A 5lb increase is unlikely to limit his threat and Frankendael earns our nod here.

Elsewhere, Dark Oak also warrants respect. A winner in a seven-horse Maiden at Galway in September, the 3-year-old did well to finish second in subsequent races at Listowel and Thurles and was beaten by just half a length in the latter.

If he can carry that consistency across slower ground today, Dark Oak can be firmly in the mix again.

Best Roughie: Magnetic North – Pontefract, 16:45

Magnetic North was nowhere to be seen in each of his last two efforts at Galway and Newcastle, though he drops back to a more favourable distance today and could be a player off a handy mark and attractive opening price at Pontefract.

The 9-year-old won back-to-back races at Gowran Park and Ballinrobe over shorter trips in the summer and has what it takes to overperform today.

The in-form Inappropriate also catches the eye on the best betting apps. The hattrick chaser was a winner at Beverley in September and Ayr in October over a similar trip to today’s and he’s been a top-three finisher in each of his last five races in total.

He’s untested on soft ground, however, he remains an interesting prospect and warrants interest.

Stats and Insights

  • Plumpton demands speed and agility with the fast runaround marked by nimble turns and half a dozen tricky fences. Trainers Chris Gordon and Gary Moore have been the most dominant pair at the circuit over the last five seasons.
  • Gowran Park is a track for the gallopers due to the testing conditions and uphill finish at the Irish course. Jockeys Colin Keane, Ben Coen, Shane Foley and Wayne Lordan are all riding at Gowran Park today and all four have tasted success at that venue before.
  • The track at Pontefract takes plenty of getting, so look out for horses with extra stamina when digging out your selections. Time Easterby, Richard Fahey, KR Burke, David O’Meara and Kevin Ryan are the trainers to look out for at Pontefract.
