Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 16/10

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Racing fans have meetings at Kempton, Nottingham, Wetherby, Worcester and Punchestown to look forward to on another action-packed Wednesday race card and the scent of profit is in the air again.

Yesterday, our three selections returned one winner (Court In The Act, Market Rasen) and two placed horses, allowing us to maintain our profitable streak. Let’s hope for more of the same in our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Minella Indo – Punchestown, 15:50

Winner of the 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup, a runner up in the same event in 2022 and third at the Grand National in April, Henry De Bromhead’s Minella Indo isn’t short on high grade pedigree and the 11-year-old warrants tons of respect again in this Grade 3 Class 1 chase at Punchestown.

He has only raced once so far this year, so freshness isn’t a worry and having won here a year ago, this reliable campaigner gets the nod again.

Gordon Elliott has three runners in today’s race, however, Minella Crooner is our pick to outperform his stable mates.

The 8-year-old was a winner at Wexford a little over a year ago over 2m 7f and found form again at the back end of the previous campaign when winning off a 25/1 starting price at Punchestown in May. Available at an attractive price on online horse racing betting sites again today, Minella Crooner has plenty of appeal.

Best Tip #2: Double Powerful – Worcester, 17:10

Neil Mulholland’s Double Powerful has made massive strides this year and having finished up with back-to-back wins in handicap races in March, the progressive 5-year-old picked up where he left off in October with another triumph at Kelso over a similar trip.

The in-form charge hasn’t incurred a penalty between outings, while jockey Dylan Johnston even adds a 5lb claimer here. Expect Double Powerful to set the standard.

Elsewhere, Robber’s Bridge could mount a challenge for Simon Earle. He’s been impressively consistent this year and a record of 2-1-2-2-1 from his last five races is a head-turning run.

Last seen when winning at Worcester in July, Robber’s Edge will compete off a 6lb higher mark today, which muddies the water a little, though this reliable sort can still make an impact.

Best Roughie: Myboymax – Wetherby, 14:00

Myboymax could never be described as consistent, though he has had some solid performances this year, including a win on the flat at Catterick in August.

He finished 5th of 12 at Sedgefield when last seen in a Class 4 Maiden Hurdle event over a slightly shorter distance than today’s and Micky Hammond’s 6-year-old could improve on that to be a good each-way prospect here. Jockey Joshua Thompson brings a 7lb claimer to proceedings which is another plus.

Ebony Warrior has been attracting the most interest on the best betting apps, meanwhile. The in-form 6-year-old triumphed in a maiden hurdle race at Worcester in July and subsequently finished as runner up twice in a row at the same venue. Ebony Warrior has been in the frame in each of his last four runs overall and warrants plenty of respect again today at Wetherby.

Stats and Insights

  • The course at Punchestown is an undulating run, though the setting is considered fair overall and no horse types are particularly favoured there. Trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Paul Townend have been setting the standard in their respective disciplines at this circuit over the last five seasons.
  • With two lengthy straights and straightforward turns to navigate, Worcester is considered one of the easier tracks to tackle on the UK racing circuit. Fergal O’Brien and Neil Mulholland have been the two most successful trainers here over the last five campaigns.
  • There are few hard luck stories at Wetherby and horses with extra galloping power can steam down the long straights at the track. Dan Skelton has been the most impactful trainer in jump events at Wetherby over the last five seasons.
