Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 16/09

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

A new week of racing commences with a wallop on Monday with meetings across the UK and Ireland at Kempton, Thirsk, Windsor, Worcester, Laytown. Last week, we managed to land plenty of profit for our readers and we’re determined to stay in the black over the next seven days. Check out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Mokaatil – Laytown, 17:05

Mokaatil has been in rip-roaring form over the summer and arrives at Laytown today having won three of his last four races. A 13-time winner overall, Ian Williams’s battle-hardened 9-year-old once held a rating of 88 earlier in his career, so there is latent quality in this charge.

If he handles today’s surface well, he should be difficult to stop especially with jockey Siobhan Rutledge adding a 3lb claimer.

Trainer Adrian McGuinness has a good record at this track and his raider, Cherry Pink, could represent his stable with aplomb here.

The 4-year-old, who is competitively priced on betting sites for horse racing, has been doing top work over 1m of late, scoring a first and second at Bellewstown and Gowran Park on her last two outings. Dropping back to 6f today might be a challenge, but she is taken to feature.

Best Tip #2: Daisy Roots – Windsor, 16:12

Daisy Roots was a winner in two of her last three races and made all to triumph at Windsor over C&D when last seen on September 2nd, justifying her pre-bout favouritism in the process.

She returns to the scene of that victory just 4lb higher than before in the ratings and with Jim Crowley booked for the saddle, another bold bid from this in-form runner should be expected.

Elsewhere, John Flint’s recent acquisition, Judge Frank, could be an alternative to consider. He delivered the goods on his second start for his new stable when winning at Chepstow earlier this month over 7f.

He has been inched up just 2lb for that success and with Oisin Murphy on board and cheekpieces added, Judge Frank looks ready to make more progress.

Best Roughie: Jamih – Thirsk, 13:45

Jamih had an unfortunate outing at Catterick last time out, slipping out of the stalls at the start before finishing in an unflattering 12th position, however, his form was ace before that with back-to-back wins at Catterick and Thirsk following successive runs to second at Beverely.

Today’s race doesn’t look overly competitive Miss T Jackson’s 9-year-old looks like an attractive prospect at a high price on betting apps in the UK.

Highland Lil meanwhile, could be another name to consider. Making her debut for David O’Meara today, she had mixed form before switching ownership, however, she has plenty of experience over this trip and running without headgear today, she could surprise a few.

Vistant, who has a record of 2-2-8 from his last three races, is shaping up as a good each-way possibility.

Stats and Insights

  • Laytown, which is situated in County Meath in the Republic of Ireland, is almost a completely straight setting with races there run over six and seven-furlong distances only. Trainer Adrian McGuinness has won four of his last 14 races at Laytown, while DK Weld has won two out of two on recent visits.
  • The circuit at Windsor runs around an unusual figure of eight-shaped-course. The setting there is flat and fair giving most horse types a chance. Jockeys Oisin Murphy and Rob Hornby have both been regular winners at Windsor over the last five flat seasons and both are in action at today’s meeting.
  • The track at Thirsk is very flat, however, there are sharp turns to navigate, while a chamber towards the middle can slow horses on the inside down. Trainers Tim Easterby, David O’Meara, Michael Dodds, KR Burke and Richard Fahey are usually the ones to watch out for at Thirsk.
