Meetings across the UK and Ireland at Bath, Chester, Doncaster Linfield, Musselburgh and Leopardstown combine to fill up a busy race card on Saturday, and below we’ve got a selection of horse racing betting tips for the day’s action. Yesterday we landed yet another winner (Qetaifan, Chester), so let’s hope for more of the same here.
Best Tip #1: Porta Fortuna – Leopardstown, 14:50
Donnacha O’Brien’s Porta Fortuna is a top-class performer who is consistent enough to deliver on any ground, as evidenced by her superb record ahead of today’s test at Leopardstown.
She was pipped to the Qipco Guineas in May, but rebounded to win the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Falmouth at Newmarket. She should be the one to beat again today and she is taken to deliver for her connections again.
Elsewhere, Fallen Angel deserves to be factored into your thinking. She has a record of three wins from her last four outings with her last triumph at the Curragh achieved over a distance of 1m.
Running over the same trip today, the 3-year-old could launch another bold bid. Jancis, who is hattrick hunting at Leopardstown, could also be worth a market check on betting sites for horse racing.

Best Tip #2: La Yakel – Chester, 14:05
La Yakel was successful in a handicap under similar conditions at Hamilton when last seen on August 23rd and that comfortable success could provide a platform to build on in this Listed race at Chester.
Representing Willliam Haggas’s prolific stable, the 5-year-old will need to step things up today, however, a record of 1-2-6-1 from four races isn’t to be sniffed at and La Yakel can make another positive impact.
Star Harbour is shaping up like a bigger-price alternative. Armed with a record of four wins on the flat in Ireland over the last year, the 6-year-old has scored twice since the summer at the Curragh and Tipperary, and in that kind of fettle, he could have what it takes to make a splash across the water in the UK.

Best Roughie: Storm Star – Doncaster, 17:25
Storm Star has been in the frame in four successive races since his last win at Newcastle on May 12th and his breeding suggests he should have more potential to release.
A run to third behind one of today’s rivals, Tolstoy, was laced with promise and Andrew Balding’s charge could follow that up with another solid display off a big starting price over a similar trip at Doncaster.
Tolstoy also has strong connections as he bids to add another win to his recent string.
With a record of four wins from seven races for his new yard, Brian Ellison’s in-form runner completed a hattrick at York between June and July, and also won at Newcastle in a Class 3 handicap when last out. Jockey Shay Farmer adds a 7lb claimer, which only adds to his appeal on betting apps.

Stats and Insights
- There aren’t many tight bends to conquer or undulations to surf at Leopardstown, making it a setting that suits galloping types. Aiden O’Brien (86 wins) and JP O’Brien (60 wins) have been the two most successful trainers at Leopardstown over the last five flat seasons.
- Chester is one of the smaller venues on the UK circuit and previous course form can be a useful element to look out for when identifying tips. Trainers Andrew Balding, Hugo Palmer, Tom Dascombe, Tim Easterby and Richard Fahey are the names to watch out for at Chester.
- Doncaster offers a fair setting for most types due to the lack of undulations and tricky turns at the track. Trainers John & Thady Gosden, Richard Hannon, William Haggas, Roger Varian and Andrew Balding are the names to track closely at Doncaster.
