Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 09/09

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

A new racing week comes out of the stalls in style on Monday with meetings to look forward to across the UK and Ireland at Brighton, Newton Abbot, Perth, Wolverhampton and Galway.

As per the usual routine, we’ve assembled a trio of expertly chosen horse racing betting tips for the day’s action below. Keep reading to view our latest racing picks.

Best Tip #1:  The Wallpark – Galway, 16:30

The Wallpark is hattrick hunting today having won back-to-back races at Kilbeggan and Galway in July and August respectively.

Last month’s success at this track was achieved over 2m6f at the Galway Festival and Gordon Elliott’s in-form gelding is difficult to look past on his return to the same circuit in the west of Ireland. The Wallpark gets the nod to make it three wins from three here.

Lord Erskine is the biggest price on horse racing betting sites in the UK from the field of five, though his each-way prospects look promising.

The dual-purpose veteran has been in solid, if unspectacular form of late and posted runs to fourth, third and fifth in his last three races. He finished third at Galway in The Tribes handicap hurdle in August and has it in him to be a solid performer again.

Best Tip #2: Fighting Poet – Brighton, 16:40

Fighting Poet has looked much better since returning to turf and a good run to second at Epsom in July was followed up with a triumph at Brighton in August over 1m 4f.

Still relatively unexposed in this discipline, the 6-year-old is capable of following up at the same venue. Fighting Poet has been inched up just 3lb in the ratings since winning at Brighton last month, so there is plenty to like about his chances.

The Conqueror is another name to shortlist. He didn’t shine at Windsor when last seen (4th), but we’re choosing to dismiss that effort. Instead, his win at Brighton in May feels more pertinent and if that kind of form can be recaptured, he could be a player again.

The booking of Hollie Doyle also feels significant. Innisfree Pearl, who finished third on his handicap debut last month, could be open to further progression.

Best Roughie: Garde Des Champs – Perth, 14:30

Sports betting apps are paying out on four places for the Auto Services Perth Support Dundee Bairns Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Perth today, and that could give Garde Des Champs a shot at delivering some profit.

A familiar face around these parts, Miss Lucinda Russell’s 8-year-old has a record of 2-3-2-3 from his last four races at Perth and despite being unfancied, can harness his knowhow to compete again.

Dripsey Moon meanwhile, will be out to justify his favouritism. He made all to beat several of today’s rivals at Perth on August 17th and moving up just 2lb in the ratings today, he has strong credentials again.

Parisencore, who finished just under a length behind Dripsey Moon in the same race last month, can be expected to launch another challenge.

Stats and Insights

  • Speedier types can have an edge at Galway due to the tight turns and undulating nature of the track in the west of Ireland. Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott have been the most dominant trainers in the jumping sphere over the last five campaigns at Galway.
  • Brighton is another track with tricky turns and undulations to conquer, which tends to suits the more agile types. Trainer Tony Carroll has posted more wins at Brighton (51) over the last five flat seasons than any of rivals – and by some distance.
  • Perth is a fair setting that offers most horses a chance at glory. There is a lengthy run-in from the last fence to the winning post, so exciting finishes are common there. Gordon Elliott and Lucinda Russell have won 35 and 32 times respectively over the last five jumps seasons at Perth.
