Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 05/09

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Thursday’s race card features meetings at Haydock, Lingfield, Newbury, Salisbury, Wolverhampton and Clonmel, giving us six action-packed events to pick through. Yesterday, we landed yet another winner when Split Evens delivered the goods at Lingfield, so let’s hope for more of the same today. To that end, you can view our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Dance And Romance – Salisbury, 16:25

Dance And Romance finished third at Goodwood when last seen in July and trailed today’s rival Katey Kontent in the reckoning, however, a reversal of fortunes looks possible here.

The 3-year-old had two wins in three races before slipping back at Goodwood and the addition of the vastly experienced Oisin Murphy in the saddle today should make a considerable difference.

Katey Kontent will also expect to have solid claims with Rossa Ryan onboard. A winner over 6f at Windsor in May, her form has been solid since, with that second-placed effort at Goodwood the best performance since.

Katey Kontent has an attractive price to work with on online horse racing betting sites which adds to her appeal and she should be thereabouts.

Best Tip #2: Boy George – Newbury, 17:40

Boy George had been missing in action for north of 400 days before his reappearance at Bath in July and the 7-year-old marked his return with a bang, beating all over 1m 4f.

He followed that up with another triumph at Windsor in early August over a slightly shorter trip and seems to be in career-best from. He competes with a career-high mark today, though he has to be of interest in this kind of mood.

Buxted Too could offer an alternative at a bigger price. He was firmly down the weights when winning at Windsor in June and has moved up just 1lb in the ratings since.

He was a solid third over hurdles at Stratford nine days ago and a return to the flat racing sphere could bring him on again. An interesting contender.

Best Roughie: Elzaamsan – Clonmel, 19:15

Elzaamsan has won only once in 24 attempts for the Halford and Collins stable, however, that victory was achieved at Leopardstown on August 8th, so further progression looks possible.

A record of 2-5-1-9 from his last four races isn’t one to be scoffed at and the 6-year-old looks like a top each-way prospect at a meaty price on the best betting apps.

Alan McIntyre’s Molly Hall meanwhile, will be eager to justify her favouritism. She won this race last year and enjoyed her second triumph of the current campaign with a win at Navan on August 29th.

Running out of the inside gate at Clonmel today, the talented 6-year-old should be in the mix again.

Stats and Insights

  • Shorter race are run over the straight course at Salisbury and the uphill nature of the course can be a tricky challenge for younger horses. Trainers Ralph Beckett, Richard Hannon, Andrew Balding, Clive Cox and Roger Varian have all won numerous races at Salisbury over the last five flat seasons.
  • Newbury is a course suited to big galloping types rather than the smaller, more agile contenders. The usual suspects like Richard Hannon, William Haggas, Andrew Balding, Ed Walker and Charlie Appleby are the trainers to track closely at Newbury
  • The circuit at Clonmel is rectangular and features a still uphill finish that can ask questions of a horse’s stamina. Jockeys Chris Hayes, Colin Keane, Jame Powell, JM Sheridan and WJ Lee are all in action at Clonmel today and all five have won there before.
