Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 30/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card is another bumper edition with meetings to look forward to across the UK and Ireland at Ffos Las, Fontwell, Salisbury, Sandown, Southwel, Thirsk, Down Royal and Wexford.

Yesterday, we added yet another winner to the pile thanks to Transcendental’s triumph at Navan and we’re determined to maintain our momentum today. To that end, you can view our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Chutzpal – Wexford, 16:30

It’s hard to look beyond the ante-post favourite Chutzpal for visitwexford.ie Handicap Hurdle. Henry De Bromhead’s charge is hunting a hattrick today following wins at Killarney and Bellewstown, with the latter secured just two days ago.

He romped home by a massive 12l on that occasion and though he is set to incur a 7lb penalty today, he should be tough to catch if he gets away again.

JP O’Brien’s Duke Silver offers a promising alternative on other horse racing betting sites in the UK. Making his handicap bow today, he showed some promise during his Maiden Hurdle runs in late summer and could launch a bold bid in this one.

Bayou Belle meanwhile, who finished twice at Wexford on each of his last two outings, also comes under consideration.

Best Tip #2: Butter Fingers – Down Royal, 16:05

Butter Fingers and Teriferma look like the likeliest candidates to perform in the day’s opening race at Down Royal, though the former gets the nod on this occasion.

Butter Fingers enjoyed a winning start by 29l over hurdles at Tipperary in July over 2m and followed that up with a cosy triumph in a flat race at Sligo when last seen 23 days ago. Ross O’Sullivan’s charge could set the standard again here.

Teriferma meanwhile, caught the eye when scoring at Killarney last week over a distance of 2m 1f, and today’s similar trip should suit his pace. The 3-year-old will have to kick on again here, but should be able to compete.

Interestingly, jockey JJ Slevin picked Teriferma over stablemate Inspire Hope today, though the latter finished second behind Butter Fingers at Tipperary last month and could be in the discussion.

Best Roughie: Ventura Express – Thirsk, 15:15

A chance is taken on Ventura Express at a big starting price on betting apps in the Happy 18th Birthday Myles Handicap at Thirsk today. Though all of his wins have been over 5f so far this year, the slight increase in trip here shouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

The 7-year-old looked at ease in Class 3 company at Chepstow (3rd) last time out and could be in position for an each-way finish, at the very least.

Miss J Camacho’s Makanah has been backed into a tighter price and for good reason. The 9-year-old got off the mark for the season at Redcar earlier this month beating today’s rival Tinto in the process.

Makanah has a decent record at Thirsk and his familiarity in these surroundings should enhance his chances of a repeat success.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Wexford in Ireland’s south-east features sharp turns and a short final run-in to the winning post. Henry De Bromhead is a track specialist here and has won an unmatched 29 races in Wexford over the last five jump seasons.
  • Down Royal is a track for the gallopers and the stiff nature of the setting there demands staying power from potential winners. Gordon Elliott has been dominant at Down Royal in recent years and no other trainer has come close to matching his 58 wins there over the last five campaigns.
  • Shorter races at Thirsk have a 6-furlong straight chute to squeeze through while a chambering of the track in the mid-section has a habit of slowing things down. Jockeys Daniel Tudhope, David Allan, Paul Mulrennan and David Nolan are in action today and all four have won at Thirsk before.
