Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 11/08

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Sunday’s race card is a light affair, however, meetings at Leicester, Ripon, Downpatrick should offer more than enough angles in the markets and we’re determined to finish the weekend on a profitable note. Keep reading to view our latest horse racing betting tips below including a 9/1 longer shot at Ripon.

Best Tip #1:  Mordor – Downpatrick, 14:48

Gordon Elliott’s Mordor stayed on well to finish second at Galway last time out, confirming that he is suited to this kind of trip and the talented 4-year-old should arrive at Downpatrick ready to compete over hurdles today. Mordor won successive races at Killarney and Sligo before his outing at Galway and he has the mettle to set the standard again here.

Elsewhere, Dollar Value could be worth a market check on horse racing betting sites on his return to handicapping company. Four of his 13 career wins have come at this track and having upset the odds to win at Sligo just three days ago, he warrants the utmost respect.

Best Tip #2: Lady Wingalong – Leicester, 16:00

Lady Wingalong didn’t have the best luck when finishing third at Wolverhampton on July 29th, however, she had been admirably consistent before that, posting a record of 2-2-2-1 from four races over the summer. Today’s race offers her a big opportunity to get back to winning ways and despite being listed at a career-high mark, she is taken to do the business.

Available Angel meanwhile, could be an option to consider at a bigger price. She was beaten by only a neck at Yarmouth on July 30th and today’s drop back in trip could allow her to make a similar bid off the same mark.

Best Roughie: Gunnerside – Ripon, 16:10

Gunnerside has been hitting either highs or lows this summer, though the six-time winner should be a threat if he’s in the mood at Ripon today. The 7-year-old impressed when winning over 5f at Chepstow on June 24th and also shaped up well at Redcar (2nd) a month later. With that form recaptured, he could be a menace.

Hurstwood has been attracting the most attention on betting apps in the ante post shake-up. The three-time course winner has won seven times over a distance of 6f overall, and though he has enjoyed less success over 5f, he should be thereabouts.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Downpatrick is narrow and has sharp bends and testing undulations, so it’s usually best to avoid the bigger horses with longer strides. Trainer Gordon Elliott has lodged 43 wins at Downpatrick over the last five seasons, making him the most successful name there by a distance over that period.
  • Leicester is another undulating circuit and horses need plenty of stamina to get going there. Trainers Roger Varian and George Boughey had 27% and 26% win rates at Leicester over the past five flat seasons.  Jockey William Buick has a 27% strike rate over the same period.
  • Over five and six furlong races at Ripon, it’s better to be drawn high, though soft conditions can lessen the effect. Horses trained by Tim Easterby have been the most successful performers at Ripon over the last five seasons, winning 72 times in 537 races at the track.
