Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 05/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Friday’s race card features meetings across the UK and Ireland at Beverley, Doncaster, Haydock, Newton Abbot, Sandown, Bellewstown and Cork, so we have no shortage of potentially profitable angles to consider. As per the usual routine, we’ve compiled a list of free horse racing betting tips for the day’s action below.

Best Tip #1:  Missus Beeton – Cork, 18:50

The Follow Us On Instagram Mares Handicap Hurdle is shaping up to be a competitive affair, though Missus Beeton could be the one to back in Cork.

The 6-year-old got off the mark at Limerick on May 30th and went achingly close to winning again after that at Punchestown before losing by 3/4 of a length. The 104-rated bay moves slightly up in trip today and it would be a surprise if she wasn’t right in the mix again.

Noble Hilltop meanwhile, has been earning plenty of attention on the best betting sites for horse racing in the ante-post shake-up. The Buckley family’s charge made a winning start for her new stable at the end of May at Punchestown and having moved up just 7lb in the rankings, she could be tough to top again.

The Henry De Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore combination means Cobra Queen is of interest too.

Best Tip #2: Hold Your Fort – Newton Abbot, 16:35

Hold Your Fort delivered the goods with room to spare at Newton Abbot just a week ago and still largely unexposed, the 8-year-old looks like the one to beat again if the quick turnaround can be managed properly.

Officially running under his penalty, Hold Your Fort is due to climb up 9lb in the rankings soon, so there is plenty to like about his chances today.

Doctor Foley could pose a challenge for AJ Honeyball, meanwhile. With a record of 3-7 over fences, the 7-year-old won at Fontwell over 3m 2f when last seen in late May and the slightly shorter racing distance today should suit. The addition of blinkers could also make a difference.

William Ewart finished behind Doctor Foley at Fontwell in May and could also come into the frame if improvement is found.

Best Roughie: Mater Matuta – Bellewstown, 20:10

Mater Matuta is a local entry in the Dore & Co. Solicitors Handicap in the final race of the day at Bellewstown and though the 8-year-old is a bumper price, she could have what it takes to upset the odds.

She won here over hurdles last summer and has been producing solid form over jumps since the spring. Another win at Tramore on May 31st turned heads and she is worth taking to be a prominent feature again here.

Elsewhere, Building Bridges has been a protagonist on the best betting apps in the UK, however, she is a keener hurdler and others are preferred. Enquire Within is among the other horses with better credentials.

She finished in third, second and fourth on her last three efforts and could be a player today when dropping down in grade.

Stats and Insights

  • The course at Cork is a very fair setting and that gives most types a decent shot at success in Ireland’s south west. Jockeys Sean O’Keefe, Phillip Enright, Danny Mullins and Rachael Blackmore are all in action at Cork today and all four have won there multiple times before.
  • There is a short run-in preceded by sharp turns at Newton Abbot, and that can favour the speedier types. Jockey Harry Cobden has more wins than any other rider at Newton Abbot over the last five seasons, though Sean Bowen, Brendan Powell, Paddy Brennan and Sam Twinston-Davies have all tasted success there over the same period.
  • Bellewstown provides a testing setting for jumpers with sharp turns and a fast surface combining to make races competitive. Gavin Cromwell, Gordon Elliott, Henry De Bromhead, John C McConnell and Matthew J Smith are the trainers to watch out for at Bellewstown.
