Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 02/07

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Tuesday’s race card line up is a bumper edition with meetings across the UK and Ireland at Brighton, Hamilton, Lingfield, Stratford, Roscommon and Tipperary making for an exciting day. Ahead of the action, we’ve assembled a selection of horse racing betting tips for your punting pleasure. Check them out below.

Best Tip #1:  Green Triangle – Roscommon, 16:45

Green Triangle has been bristling with promise on his early outings and caught the eye to finish second over 7f at Roscommon on his debut on May 20th.

He followed that up with another solid display at Leopardstown (3rd) a month later and today could provide a chance for the 2-year-old to score for the first time. Prices are tight for JP O’Brien’s charge on horse racing betting sites, however, he’s still the preferred choice.

Elsewhere, Paddy Twomey’s J’adore Chris has the potential to make a splash on his bow. The unraced dam is a half-sister to 1m Listed winner Army Of Angels and Twomey’s stable knows how to breed winning first-timers.

Boyne Valley has previous course experience and could be an each-way option with credentials.

Best Tip #2: Mayor’s Walk – Tipperary, 17:10

Mayor’s Walk looks suited to chasing and he scored on her debut in that sphere in a beginner’s event at Limerick on May 23rd. Further improvement looks possible here for the progressive 5-year-old, especially with a tongue-tie factored in.

The Henry De Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore combination could be key and Mayor’s Walk is taken to defy a penalty in this one.

The biggest opposition could arrive in the form of Gavin Cromwell’s Dutch Schulz. The dual flat winner carries a rating of 115 over hurdles and has posted a string of second-place finishes in the lead up to this one, suggesting that a first chase win could be around the corner.

Gordon Elliott’s Purse Price could also be involved if improvement is found.

Best Roughie: Pisanello – Hamilton, 15:15

Pisanello dropped weight to pick up a win in a competitive race at York last month, finishing well to claim the spoils for the first time this year.

The 7-year-old also won twice in 2023 over C&D and despite moving 4lb back up in the ratings, jockey Mark Winn’s claimer can help to balance the books. Pisanello could make another push today off an attractive price at Hamilton.

AM Balding’s Aragon Castle has been leading the charge in the ante-post markets on betting apps, meanwhile.

The 3-year-old looked the part when finishing second over 1m at Goodwood and Haydock in his last two outings and a similar performance today should put him in the frame again. Hiromichi, who has two wins over 1m since April, is another big price alternative.

Stats and Insights

  • There aren’t many hard luck stories at Roscommon with the circuit there offering a largely fair setting for most. Jockeys Colin Keane, Gary Carroll, Declan McDonogh, Shane Foley and Ben Coen have all won at Roscommon before and all five are in action at today’s meeting.
  • The track at Tipperary is a sharp left-handed oval-shaped run and some agility is required to get around those bends. Jockeys Paul Townend, Danny Mullins, Rachael Blackmore, Darragh O’Keeffe and Mark Walsh are usually the ones to look out for at Tipperary.
  • Horses with stamina can often be the ones to back at Hamilton due to the inclined two-furlong finish at the track. Trainer Jim Goldie has enjoyed 40 wins at Hamilton over the last five seasons, while Keith Dalgleish and Ian Jardine have posted 32 victories each over the same period.
