Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 27/06

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Meetings across the UK at Hamilton, Leicester, Newcastle, Newmarket and Nottingham combine to give Thursday’s race card line-up an action-packed look and we’re determined to dig out some more profit for our readers from the day’s events. Yesterday, we landed yet another winner when Mr King delivered on his promise to triumph at Naas. Take a look at our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Red Force One – Newmarket, 17:40

Red Force One has hit a purple patch of late and his form is strong enough to make him the most backable runner at the Close Brothers Handicap at Newmarket.

Despite landing back-to-back wins at Musselburgh and Redcar in his last two outings, Red Force Once retains the same mark today and with an attractive price on horse racing betting sites to boot, so there is plenty to be enthusiastic about here.

A challenge is expected to be offered by Pfingstberg, however. The 4-year-old beat all others to score at Lingfield on June 8th over 2m and though he has something to prove moving up in grade today, he should be in the mix, despite a 5lb rise in the rankings.

My Chiquita, who has two quick ground victories under her belt from last summer, also deserves attention.

Best Tip #2: Mrs Trump – Nottingham, 16:50

Mrs Trump was beaten by just a neck at Nottingham a couple of weeks back over C&D, though she won well at Leicester just before that over the same distance and she could rebound here.

The 4-year-old has shown versatility to perform on different ground since the start of summer and her overall form over the last eight weeks included two wins and a second-placed effort from four starts.

Dunnington Lad could be next in line to do some damage in the last race of the day at Nottingham. His win at Ripon on June 19th was a little surprising, though a successful wind surgery might have been a factor there and though he carries a 5lb penalty here, he is of interest again.

The Grey Las, who was fifth in a Class 6 Handicap race at Nottingham earlier this month, is an each-way shout on her return to the same circuit.

Best Roughie: Barleybrown – Newcastle, 16:40

While Mrs R Carr’s charge is priced well down the reckoning in the ante-post markets on the best betting apps, Barleybrown has good previous form at Newcastle and could be in the frame to overperform there today.

The 4-year-old won on his last visit to the north east in a Class 6 Handicap race over 1m in late April, and finished second at Newcastle before that in a similar race. A repeat of either display would put him firmly in the frame today.

Elsewhere, Flying Panther represents James Owen for just the third time today and he showed real class to win at Wolverhampton when last seen. Moving back into handicapping today, he can be expected to set the pace even with a penalty applied.

Stoic Syd, who has two wins this summer, could be another name for shortlists, though he will have to prove his mettle when racing at Newcastle for the first time.

Stats and Insights

  • The track at Newmarket is made famous by The Rowley Mile, a wide stretch that can test a horse in a number of different departments. Charlie Appleby has been by far the most dominant trainer at Newmarket over the last five seasons and he has won 96 times there overall that period.
  • Nottingham provides a largely flat and fair setting, though shorter races there have a slight bias towards higher drawn numbers. Trainers Michael Appleby, William Haggas and Ralph Beckett have all enjoyed numerous wins at Nottingham over the last five seasons.
  • Newcastle is a track for the galloping types and with plenty of room to manoeuvre, horses can often make up ground late from the rear. Trainer Richard Fahey is top dog at Newcastle and he has won 72 times in 643 races over the last five seasons.
