Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 18/05

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Saturday’s race card lineup features a lengthy list of meetings to analyse across the UK and Ireland at Bangor-on-Dee, Doncaster, Newbury, Newmarket, Thirsk, Uttoxeter, Navan and Wexford. With eight events to dissect, the potential to find some profit is high again and to that end, we’ve laid out our latest horse racing betting tips below.

Best Tip #1:  Tunbridge Wells – Navan, 13:20

Much is expected of Tunbridge Wells with a possible entry at Royal Ascot to come and his first foray into the field today could allow him to start his career with a bang.

Aidan O’Brien’s highly-rated charge is the colt of No Nay Never and on that pedigree alone, he appeals at a short price at Navan. With Wayne Lordan in the saddle and a decent list of opponents to compete against, the 2-year-old is taken to deliver on his promise.

Dr Ali meanwhile, has been receiving some backing on other horse racing betting sites in the early market movement. He made an encouraging C&D debut last month and finishing 3rd at Navan in an 11-horse maiden.

With that experience behind him, he should be thereabout again here. Bamako, who has two races being him, is a longer-shot contender.

Best Tip #2: Lovely Reaction – Wexford, 14:15

Lovely Reaction toiled a little over 3m when last seen at Cork on March 31st, however, the drop back in trip at Wexford today should suit her more and she can bounce back in style.

The 6-year-old looked the part when last raced over 2m 4f at Leopardstown in early March and her victory on that occasion could set her up for another push over the same distance against same-sex opponents here.

The stiffest challenge could be posed by Kiltealy Park. The 5-year-old broke her duck at Wexford last month in a Maiden Hurdle over 2m 5f and that opening score could offer a platform for more success at the same circuit.

PJ Rothwell’s Game And Glory also arrives in form today having won at Ballinrobe on April 19th.

Best Roughie: Alrazeen – Newmarket, 16:25

AW regular Alrazeen switches surface today and could be one to pursue off a workable mark and meaty price at Newmarket.

The 3-year-old fell short to finish third at Newcastle last time out, though successive victories at Wolverhampton and Southwell were achieved before that, and today’s distance is slightly shorter. On that kind of form, Gay Kelleway’s charge has to have credentials.

Elsewhere, Caelan could be another to weigh up on sports betting apps in what looks like an open race. The dual AW winner didn’t seem to enjoy the soft ground at Doncaster (3rd) in March, though better conditions should suit today and an improvement could be in the pipeline.

Magnificent Match, who was first and second in 1m handicaps at Yarmouth in April, is another outsider with a fair mark.

Stats and Insights

  • The conditions at Navan can be testing at the best of times and we like our tips to have plenty of stamina there. Aidan O’Brien usually sets the standard at Navan and the prolific trainer has enjoyed 35 wins at the track over the last five years.
  • The track at Wexford is relatively sharp, so horses need to be nimble enough there to stay involved. Rachael Blackmore and Darragh O’Keefe have performed well at Wexford over the past few years and both jockeys will be competing at today’s meeting in Ireland’s south east.
  • Newmarket is the UK’s HQ of flat racing and the famous Rowley Mile is a nicely wide track marked by the famous dip a couple of furlongs before the post. Trainer Charlie Appleby has won with a superb 94 of his 319 entries at the track over the last half a decade.
