Horse Racing Tips, Predictions & Best Bets – 12/02

MansionBet - Horse Racing Best Bets

Monday brings a fresh start and a three-event race card to enjoy with Catterick, Plumpton and Wolverhampton acting as hosts. We enjoyed another profitable run last week, though as one of the best horse racing betting sites, we strive for consistency and below we’ve got another set of expert racing predictions to guide you through the day’s action.

Best Tip #1: Holly – Catterick 3.30

Seven-year-old Holly won three French bumpers over a distance of around 1m 4f and she looked the part when winning over a longer 2m 1f at Market Rasen last month.

She has been lumbered with a 9lb rise here on what should be heavy ground at Catterick, however, she can go again and has the potential to deliver a second win on the spin over a shorter trip.

Another contender comes in the form of For Pleasure who arrives on the back of successive wins at Fakenham and Fontwell before and after Christmas.

The 9-year-old isn’t the force he once was, but he is well handicapped here and could push on. Moonlight Glory meanwhile, who enjoyed success over hurdles in a Class 4 event at Sedgefield last month, represents a strong each way candidate.

Best Tip #2:  Gearing’s Point – Plumpton 4.45

Gearing’s Point has decent claims to enjoy success at Plumpton having run well at the same circuit to finish third in a Class 4 Novice Hurdle race over 2m at the end of January.

Today’s run is a shorter 1m 7f and the six-year-old had four wins over similar trips in 2023. Soft ground today might suit and she has a good opportunity to strike on her handicap debut.

Majestic Jameela, who has made an appearance as a possible winner on other sports betting apps, will head off as favourite having dropped down in class to compete.

The 4-year-old finished back 7th at Doncaster last month in a Class 1 hurdle race, but landed in second and 1st on the last two occasions there was a drop in level.  Ciaran Gethings, who has 71 career wins over hurdles, takes the saddle there and his experience could come into play.

Best Roughie: Starsong – Wolverhampton 8.30

Starsong is priced just outside the leading contenders in the last race at Wolverhampton, however, she is taken to build on her win at Wolverhampton on February 6th.

With the same jockey, Luke Morris, in situ, Starsong can go right to the wire again on familiar territory, despite having a 5lb penalty to bear. Starsong’s recent win over a similar trip should stand her in good stead.

Elsewhere, Darlo Pride might also have solid claims. The reliable sprinter has delivered several top-two finishes over the past six months and lost by only a neck at Lingfield on February 2nd.

Munificent was a winner in his C&D contest last year and might relish the drop back in grade on her return to the same track.

Stats and Insights

  • Catterick has a tendency to reward previous winners, so look out for horses with experience at the track when lining up picks. The undulating track features several tricky bends and the nature of the circuit can favour the front-runners. Fast starters are therefore worth a look here.
  • Plumpton demands speed and agility with the fast runaround pocked by nimble turns and half a dozen difficult fences. Both the hurdle and chase tacks run in the same direction with an uphill finish to conquer in each type.
  • Built on a Tapeta surface, the circuit at Wolverhampton is flat enough and one mile long, making it a fair run. However, the left-handed bends are somewhat unusual in the UK and horses with previous experience at Wolverhampton often know how to handle the undulations with more nous.
